I commend you for your restraint and professionalism when commenting on your work, Emanuel. Referring to himself as the "Godfather" of urban fiction and over-estimating his trite contributions to black literature is one of the reasons why I've never been a fan of Omar Tyree

Yeah. When I read works by Ralph Ellison or Ernest Hemingway, I know I'm not the Godfather of anything pertaining to literature. I'd hate to become one of those writers who starts believing in his own marketing hype. I don't really know of Omar Tyree's work so I can't comment on that.

Ah but if you don't toot your own horn who will toot it?

James Brown was the one who started referring to himself as The Godfather of Soul (as well as Mr. Dynamite, Soul Brother #1, etc etc) and now everybody does it.

Ralph Ellison was very humble, but old Ernie was one of the biggest hams liars and blowhards that ever lived--a man who inflated a few weeks service in the Red Cross on the Italian Front in WWI (and getting blown up while distributing chocolate to the troops) into a rep as an invicible warrior--are you humbled by "Death in the Afternoon", "The Green Hills of Africa" and "A Moveable Feast"?

More power to Omar. He will of course have to bear the slings and arrows of the offended...but is they giving him any money?

Speak for yourself, chrishayden. A lot of people are talented enough to not have to toot their own horns. Or, as in the case of James Brown, they live up to their self-hype as opposed to the majority of bragging duds.

I think me and chrishayden should have a heading reserved exclusively for our feud so others don't have to be subjected to our exchanges. There was a time when he and I managed to stomach each other, but that has changed. There are two kinds of arrogance; one kind is glazed with an irresistance charm, and then there's the repulsive kind which chrishayden personifies. Needless to say, that I welcome the opportunity he provides for me to practice my skills at insulting. LOL.

Hey All,

I have to nudge my way into this conversation - I have NEVER been a fan of the post TM-genre regardless of the writer or storyline. I went to college with Tyree and he is bombastic now as ever - it aint got nothing to do with his "musing" or literature - ugh - but his ego - but its all about the bling - right - he aint got none of mine and he never will - peace
