As someone suggested, I picked up a copy of "Friends and Lovers" by Eric Jerome Dickey to get an idea of his writing style. After reading the first chapter and a half, I can see why he has such a great following. He is an excellent writer! However, I could only read a chapter and a half because the story was a little too chick- litish for me. Still, I can see why the ladies enjoy his work. And we all know that African-American women are the primary gender among blacks to purchase books.

Absolutely LiLi. My point is that I agree with the masses that EJD is a great writer. I'd never read any of his work prior to this week and just wanted to share.

I find it interesting that EJD is apparently a black man enough in tune with the female pscyhe to pen chick-lit. Wonder why I've never been enthralled with his books. Oh well. LOL

Cynique:

It's because you are too heavy and serious minded all the time, no doubt.

I have said the same thing. He is a good writer. But what he is doing sells. If he'd listen to me he'd starve.

He ought to milk this til it runs dry and then go serious.

I have been accused of many things but serious-minded ain't one of them. Most of what I say is with tongue in cheek.

I would suggest further that EJD ain't my cup of tea because I'm a hen, not a chick.

Exactly Cynique!

You all know my feelings about EJD and I must say I like his female chartacters and dialogue the least.
