I am definitely there...I came here today JUST to ask about this...will there be another black authors' reception and awards ceremony like the one at Congress Plaza last year? That was great!!

Hey Rashena it was good to see you too!

Did you go to the Blackboard Book Awards? It was off da chain. Here are a few photographs (taken with my cell phone): http://events.aalbc.com/bea2005photos.htm

Check out the venue for the awards ceremony

(that NY City back drop for the stage is real)

I have about 90 minutes of video I'm going to add to the web site.

I won't have time to get to it for another day or two, then it will take me at least two days to edit it down. I hope two have the video posted by this weekend. There are a lot of great shots.

Peace
Troy

Hey Y'all

I have to chime in - I attended this years BEA it was my first and will not be my last - I had SO MUCH fun -- I still cannot believe that they were handing out so many new and forthcoming titles and the diversity of publishing houses from small fries to the giant commerical to the university presses - WOW is all I can say.

Although I did not make the Blackboard Awards my girl Kuwana Haulsey won "sumptin" I was told - it is my intention to attend next year with an agenda - although Black Issues gave the newbies a great list of do's and dont's.

I saw Thumper talking on a cell phone -- so I did not bother the brother - Troy you must have been floating about and I missed ya - but next year - get ready to come to my town - WDC -- we love BOOKS and the number of librarians and folk who miss our annual Goodwill sale and other bookish junkets will be out in full force -- peace

ps - the number of Black folks was impressive - sister's and brothers with suitcases wheeling away books --

Soul Sister I spend about 6 hours filming people in the AA Publishers Pavilion on Friday afternoon. I went to the AABC conference on Thursday and the reception that followed and Saturday I went to the awards ceremony.

Other than the AA Pub Pavillion I did not check out the rest of the conference. I was not trying to kill mayself and I really wanted to capture our people on film -- I wish I had some real video equipment.

I think you'll find the videos interesting (once I find the time to edit them) there was quite a wide range of intersting people in teh Pavillion

Peace
