A collection of horror and suspense short stories by AA writers edited by Brandon Massey. I usually don't care for short stories because they're, well short. But I really liked this set. It starts you off with the ultimate hook with a story by Zane in her usual Zanesque manner [dang girl!]. Several good ones in the middle and ends up with the best by Steven Barnes and Tananarive Due.

The scariest to me was Plaything by Terence Taylor because it's so close to being the truth it's probably already happening. And if it's not happening already it soon will be - lifesized, life acting, anatomically correct dolls being badly used. And of course human nature shows through with folks being SO upset by something they want to do themselves. The Barnes/Due story had me worried for poor little Kendrick and I loved Grandpa. They know how to do characters right. I haven't read a whole lot of horror but I think the way they ended the story added to it. Horror endings usually are a let down because they try to tie it up neatly for you and how can you when the story is so outside the realm of our reality?

Another good thing about this book is it gives me a new list of authors to check out.

Hey guys, I just read Thumpers review of this book and just wanted say that I didn't read it until AFTER I posted above - for real! Because what I wrote sounds a lot like what he wrote.

What can I say - great minds think alike.

Hello All,

Crystal: Why sure great minds think alike. *big smile* You know you're almost perfectly in sync with me, now withstanding that little thing you have against EJD. *LOL*
