Just went through this book by Gerald Posner. Really is mostly a rehash of other books I have already read about Motown (Divided Soul about Marvin Gay, Where Did Our Love Go, Call Her Miss Ross, The Temptations by Otis Williams).

Don't know why this guy wrote it--he has been known more for rehashes of The King Assasination, Killing the Dream (I haven't read that one), and Case Closed, where he tries to say Oswald did it alone.

Can't figure why he did this one unless it was to debunk the rumors that the Mafia was involved in Motown, one of the few new things that he has to say.

How did you like "Divided Soul"? Marvin Gaye is absolutely my favorite of all time and I'd like to read a good book about his tortured life.

Man, you know, all my life I wished I was Marvin Gaye (when I wasn't wishing I was a number of other folk)--after I read the book, I wouldn't have been Marvin Gaye for all the tea in china.
The man was really a tortured person--it does have a lot about his music in it, but, as such celebrity books must, it delves into the pain and torment of his life.

Hello All,

Sandra: I loved Divided Soul!! I really became a fan of Marvin Gaye after reading that book, only later did I fall for his music.
