What is everyone reading? Or getting ready to read? Or just finished reading?

Just finished Fifth Born, by Zelda Lockhart. It could have been a perfect novel if not for the sagging middle.

Still working on Dark Matter [don't you just love Octavia Butler?].

Hey Bayou Lights - I recently finished Crimson Petal - talk about disfunctional families!

I was thinking about starting PG County. Any thoughts on this one?

Hi Sandra,

I read P.G. County a few months ago and I must say I was not impressed. One positive though is that it is a very quick read and just filled with all kinds of drama (if you like drama). But I guess that's what she intended. It is definitely a soap opera. It was my first time reading Ms. Briscoe and it just kind of left a sour taste in my mouth.

By the way, I'm currently reading The Emperor of Ocean Park. Just finished The Wake of the Wind, J. California Cooper and Finding Fish, Antwone Fisher. Next up is Billy, by Albert French.

Hey Sandra! I agree with Yvette - quick read with LOTS of drama. I thought most of the characters were pretty immature. It was my first Briscoe book too and I don't think I'll go back for more.

Well, I'm in a slump...no time for reading with all the email and other stuff going on. But I did read:

The Hatwearer's Lesson by Yolanda Joe (Mar 2003)
Water in a Broken Glass by Odessa Rose

Next up? I don't know...I'd like to read If Beale Street Could Talk and Memories of Yesterday and squeeze in the Cooper book by Sunday, but I doubt it.

Currently reading "By The Light Of The Moon", Dean Koontz's latest thriller. Sorry. But Zora's biography "Wrapped In Rainbows" is next on my list.

I just got Wrapped in Rainbows from the library today! I am so excited. I'll probably read this before I finish any of the others.

Struggling with Whitehead's John Henry Days. The book is very long, font incredibly small, my eyes are old and crusty...lmao!
