Hello Tee,

I finished The Honey Well earlier today. It's unlike any of Gloria Mallette's previous books. But, I have to tell you...IT IS DA BOMB! *screaming* I LOVED-ED IT!! Esther is the mother from the very pit of Hell! I thought Mama Ruby from Mary Monroe's The Upper Room was bad. But, Esther, Esther is downright hateful! I love the book and highly recommend it!

Hi Tee and Thumper,

I'm halfway through the book, and I love it! Esther is running a close second behind Mama Ruby!!! Can you guys suggest some other bad female characters that I may be interested in reading?

I read the Honey Well and it was awesome. I also loved Mama Ruby in The Upper Room. Other bad female characters include Rubylee (I think that is her name) from Taken for Granted by Earl Sewell and Jude from Zane's book Nervous is no joke. The wild part about Zane's book is the innocent character (Jon) and the "B" (Jude) are both sharing the same body.

Thanks Anonymous for the suggestions, I will pick them up soon. I finished The Honey Well last night and I think Esther was worse than Mama Ruby, and Mama Ruby was a bad mama!!!
