Hello All,
I won't be able to attend the on-line meeting this week because of my cousin Kaziko Knight's death. She was my oldest cousin and just about the sweetest person you would ever wanted to meet. I make note of her passing because she is immortalized in one of my Uncle Jr.'s most famous poem, The Idea of Ancestry. In the second stanza,
"I have at one time or another been in love with my mother,
1 grandmother, 2 sisters, 2 aunts (1 went to the asylum),
and 5 cousins. I am now in love with a 7 yr old niece (she sends me letters written in large block print, and
her picture is the only one that smiles at me)."
Kazi was that 7 year old niece. She was 50 years old. |
