Hello All,

I started and completed a new novel, Rising by Darnella Ford, on one Sunday! The book is something else. I'm in hog heaven. Rising is, appoximately, the fourth novel that I've read by a new author that is awesome!! I couldn't be more pleased. Rising is due for release in January of 2003. Keep a look out for it.

What are the other three books Thumper? I agree with your assessment of Rising, though I hope you can get your hands on the self-published version. I'd rate the new one a 3.5, but the old one a 5 without a doubt.

Thumper, in another post, you said you wondered if the ending would've been changed if Darnella had a black editor...and I just wanted to let you know that she does.

From what I understand, the ending in the self-published version was considered "too graphic" and I can see how it was viewed that way, but in my opinion, it was necessary and made the whole story more believable.

Hello Tee,

Actually, that wasn't the point I made at all. Bookish was making the argument, and rightly so, that there should be more black editors, and black publishing companies. I was using Rising as an example that the ending could have changed with a white or a black editor. All I know for sure is that in my review, I stated there and here that I didn't like the ending it rang false. Black or white, Darnella editor ain't her friend for the ending is less than desirable.

Gotcha. My apologies for mis-reading.
