Hello All,

Last week, I read and finished, in one day I might add, the incredible Fifth Born by Zelda Lockhart. I thought the book was fantastic!! Off the chain! If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

My local book club has chosen this as our Feb book and we will have an author visit also. I must say I am not looking forward to reading it because it sounds like a very sad story from what I can tell by the summary. Not that I don't read sad stories; it's just that when children are involved, it's very hard for me personally. But I will read it and learn.

Hello Sandra,

I'm not going to tell you that it won't make you sad, it will. I can't even tell you if the ending is a happy one. It will piss you off, in some spots. But, despite the emotions the story caused, I was caught up in it. It is painful, but despite all of that, I loved the book. I wish you well and will understand if you're not able to read it.

This book is worth reading. We shouldn't expect happy endings always. That's just not real. This is a powerful, well told story. It should lead to a lively discussion.

Well, I finally finished reading this book. I must say the Blackburn and Lacey families give new meaning to the phrase "dysfunctional family".
The story speaks to how people closest to us (our family)can hurt us and wreck our psychie more than any mean and cruel random stranger.

I dreaded reading this novel because I knew that it would make me sad, depressed and angry. Well, it did not disappoint. What a powerful story!
Zelda Lockhart will speak at our Book Club meeting next Thursday night--and I can't wait.

Hello Sandra,

I'm so glad you read the book! I wish I could be there for that meeting! Tell Zelda, I said Hi, and when should we expect the next one? *smile*

What a wonderful book. I was so mad with this mother that I wanted to just wring her neck, but I really enjoyed the story telling ability of Ms. Lockheart. I look forward to reading anything else by her.

Angela I was like you, the ending was not predictable until you got there and I really liked that.
