Hey all, I just started TJ Butler's new book, The Night Before Thirty and so far, so good. Has anyone read it? What about her other books?
This is my first time reading anything from her.

I freely admit that I might be a bit biased with TJ Butler's books. I've read Hand Me Down Heartache and Sorority Sisters and loved each one. Her books seemed real to me. The actions, thoughts and feelings of the characters were believable and had enough every day influence to make them memorable.
I'm anxiously waiting to read The Night Before Thirty. |

Hi all,
I like TJ Butler's books. I recomend them to the young ladies that come to my library looking for something a little different from Coldest Winter Ever . I met her last year at BCALA and she was a very nice person, hardworking and down to Earth. |

Hi and thank you both for responding. I finished this up yesterday and it was an okay read. I loved the concept of women coming together to celebrate their 30th birthday in what I call an 'all about me' manner. It was cool to read and join in on their time at the spa, shopping, and all that. However, I just thought the ending was not very realistic. It read almost like a romance book where you know the formula is A+B=C... I was happy that things ended the way they did, but I was annoyed because I didn't feel it reflected the real world.
I did like Butler's ability to keep each character separate from the others and to keep their stories and lives interesting enough for me to want to know what happened next.
It was a light, fast-paced read with distinct characters, yet a bit too predictable for me...a bit too fairy-tale-ish for me, but was well-written and I hope to go back and pick up her other books.

I like light fast paced books sometimes. A book I can sit and curl up with and just read for the sake of reading. Books that don't make me think to much, just take the characters for who they are. Sometimes Fairy tales are good -even for us grown folk. I'm anxious to read this one.
Books that are too predictable often bore me and I leave them alone because I know what is going to happen but again, its a nice afternoon read, just to see if my predicition is right.

akaivyleaf...I think you'll like this one...do make sure you read it! :-) Fairy tales are cool, but it was just too neat for me and as I think I mentioned somewhere before: my take on a book depends on where I am right now in my life. I really enjoyed the book up until all the women met up for their trip. Then after that...there is no way in hell I think that a group of women that don't know each other are gonna act like that.
I'll stop here because I don't want to spoil the book, but let's discuss once you read it! I think my overall opinion would've been different if the author would've left off Part III (the last 30+ pages of the book). In that case I would've rated it a strong 4.5 vs the 3.5 it's getting. It was just tooooooooooooooooo sappy for me. ROFL.
Enough on that.
