In light of the "Race Given" thread, i think it would be fruitful for us to read fiction or invoke fiction where we can use the story, characters, etc... to make the point we want to make. We could assign two or three books and then in a month or so we can discuss our positions based on these particular novels, short stories, etc....

Hello Yukio,

Good idea. There is a book written by a white author that I reviewed last year. I loved it. A Death In Texas by Dina Temple-Ralston. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0805072772/aalbccom-20 And then my favorite book, non-fiction, from last year is At The Hands of Persons Unknown by Philip Dray. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0375754458/aalbccom-20
By all means check out At The Hands of Persons Unknown. That book was a huge eye opener to me as to the depth that this country relied on racism.

Along these lines, I just received the following blurb from amazon.com about a book that sounds kinda intriguing.

"David Brock made his name (and big money) by trashing Anita Hill as "a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty." But it was Brock's reporting that was nutty and slutty, he confesses in the riveting memoir Blinded by the Right. He absolves Hill; claims he helped Clarence Thomas threaten another woman who also made accusations against him."

Hummmmmmm. Have to check this out when I get a chance.
