Earlier this week my small Amazon order was on my door step--I love the free shipping thingy!
Anyhoo, here's what I got based on recommendations by you guys:
--Reckless Eyeballin' by Judith Smith-Levin (finished reading this already--loved it!)
--Blue Blood by Pamela Thomas-Graham
--Taxes,Death & Trouble by C.M. Miller
I guess I was in a "mystery" mood whan I ordered.

Then, after book club meeting on last Thursday night I just couldn't leave B&N with at least one book, so I bought:
--Fifth Born by Zelda Lockhart (she will be the speaker at our Feb. book club meeting. She lives in Orange County, NC now)
--Six Figures by Fred Leebron
--Sacred Fire:The QBR 100 Essential Black Books (this was on the sale table for $3.98)

ahhh..what a great book fix in one week!

Sandra, good for you sis! My book orders have been rolling in too. I received a batch of children's books I had ordered (Sis E's included) and about 7 other books that were published by a small press, the only one I remember the name of is Chief Executive Oreo (CEO)...I liked the title. <grin>

I'm in a reading slump stuck on a manuscript, but I hope to get out of it soon. Chocolate Sangria by Tracy Price Thompson should do the trick. <grin>

Please tell me how Fifth Born is once you've read it. Also are the first two books by AA authors? I have Taxes, Death and Trouble, just haven't gotten around to reading it. I love mysteries though. :-)

Hello All,

I know it's a bit unfair but I want to tell everyone the books I got in the mail lately. Carl Weber's Baby Mama Drama, Marcus Majors' A Man Most Worthy, The Wig by Charles Wright (this book was originally published in 1966), the Fred Wesley autobiography (Carey, you do know who Fred Wesley is, don't you? *eyebrow raised*), Anita Bunkley's Mirrored Life, and a whole host of others. I'm looking forward to Tracy Price Thompson's Chocolate Sangria myself. I so loved Black Coffee, but lost the review for it.

That's it, I'll go back to doing what I do best. *big smile*

Thanks Sandra...and woo hoo for you Thumper!! I call the mail man "Santa" and you can hear me screaming "HO HO HO Baby" whenever I hear the doorbell ring. LOL. I've read A Man Most Worthy (loved it) and Chocolate Sangria (really loved it) and I have Weber and Bunkley's new books though I doubt I'll be reading them anytime soon. Add The Hatwearer's Lesson to your list too. That book did my heart good (seeing that I'm a country girl myself.)

I haven't hit up Amazon in a few weeks, but I did get some goodies myself lately. I keep running in to hide them so fast that I can't even remember them all, but here are a few. ::::shhhh, don't tell hubby::::

Rising by Darnella Ford (another self-pub version)
APF: Soror Ride Dick by Zane
Private Deceptions by Roy Glenn
A Taste of Reality by Kimberla Roby
When He Calls by Sharel Love
HNIC by Gregory Morris
Growing Up King

Most of these I won't be reading anytime soon, but I did manage to knock out 10 books in January, so hopefully I can sqeeze at least some of the above in. I've been reading the sequel to Pretenses by Keith Lee Johnson in parts as he finishes them and it's driving me crazy. I want him to hurry up and finish. LOL. I am also reading another sequel to a book that I really enjoyed, but ummmmm the sequel is working my nerves.

Lastly, I hope to read a book or two this weekend:
Shattered Vessels & Memories of Yesterday and then hopefully Thunderland, Sex Life, True Lies, Twilight Moods and ummmm...some children's books. <grin>

I also made my weekly stroll into Wal-Mart to hit up the Arabesque section and bought Sass by Linda Hudson Smith and My Soul to Keep by Marcella Sanders. I doubt I'll read those, but I just can't help myself!

Dang Tee! Now you just gave more books to add to my long wish list; oh well Amazon, here I come.
I missed seeing Marcus Major when was in town last month but I will check out A Man Most Worthy if you recommend it.

And what is this Chocolate Sangria you and Thump are talking about? The title alone makes it sound yummy!
