Hello

You guys have heard me say that I don't particularly care for titles. Well, I mean titles that precede an individuals name. To some degree, it forms a image that may be misleading. Not only in the mind of the individual but also in the minds of others.

I just watched a Charlie Rose segment with Jessye Norman. I knew she was an opera singer but that was it. I am glad I had not formed an opinion of her based on the opinions of others or the common opinion that most opera singers are divas and are hard to get along with. I am not saying that I know her now but what I did see was a very strong, confident, black women that is in love with life and who is very secure with herself.

Although I could probably figure out her age, she looked very beatiful with a face that probably didn't tell the years of her existence. Her skin was so rich and fibrant.

She was so wise. She talked about the inabilities of individuals to truly understand a particular place or circumstance because they had not experienced it or had not lived long enough to have gone through a struggle and reaped the rewards of coming out on the other side. She talked about her love of Paris and of Spain.

I don't know anything about her singing abilities but I would love to meet this individual. I am envious of Troy because she is presently working with The Roots and they will be performing at the Apolo next month.

Again. I am glad I knew nothing of this individual, I am left to draw my own conclusions based on a time called now.
