Hello All,

I just finished Sugar & Spice by Keith Lee Johnson. Man, now that is a damn good book! He's better than James Patterson!

Anywho, I'm falling into that mystery/suspense mode now. I haven't been there in a long time. It got me to thinking about my favorite AA mystery/suspense writers from the past. I put in Hugh Holton. If you are not familar with Hugh Holton, I'll tell you a little about him. holton was a Chicago policeman who started writing a few decades ago. He created a wonderful series featuring Lt. Larry Cole. Who is pretty much in the same vein as Patterson's Alex Cross. I don't know which one came first, but I always prefered Holton's Cole. Hugh Holton died about 8 years ago and naturally that was the end of Larry Cole, especially since I don't believe Holton's had the sales of Patterson or even the late Lawrence Sanders so there was no need to keep the series going with someone else writing the books under Holton's name.

I'm on my daily two hour Amazon.com browsing (I know, its weird but I can't help myself), I put in Holton's name and there is a new Larry Cole book out, this month. Holton's last book. Man, is that something or what?? I'm so tickled you would think that I had a feather in the seat of my pants! I'm going to get that sucka!

Cynique, since Holton is from Chicago...is there a reason you did not share this piece of good news with the rest of us? *eyebrow raised*

I am familiar with Hugh Holton, Thumper, although I was never a particularly big fan of his books. Why, I can't remember but I think it was because I found his skills too generic. When he died, he really slid off my radar. I hadn't heard anything about a new book by him coming out. Sorry.

Those 2 mystery thrillers you recommended by Keith Lee Johnson, however, are on my list to read next, - based solely on your rave reviews.
