As usual, they change their tactics
and use HUMOR and "word play code"
to say all the hateful things
they've always delighted in saying
about our kind.

There will be many, many humor "missteps" during these Obama years. First of all, GWB was just such a treasure trove of jokes for stand-up comedians, late night show hosts, sit-com writers and the average Jane and Joe at the office water cooler. The jokes, as they say, wrote themselves.
But now all these folks will have to figure out how to joke about a President Obama without committing racial faux pas. My own humble suggestion is that we all turn down our being-offended meters a couple of notches. Otherwise we will all be in the doctor's office dealing with our pressure and our sugar behind a bunch of nonsense.
Of course, there will be those who use their "oops" humor pass to say what they really feel. Another humble opinion: it's not going to be conducive to try to figure out folks' intent.
At any rate: It's gonna be a looooong few years... |

I know you're right, Yvette.
But one thing I'm NOT ENJOYING---are the
constant "murmurings" that Obama is
really gay and that Michelle looks
like a Man.
I ONLY hear this when I'm around my
White Friends (and my friends here
in Cali are "rich" and they're
t.v. producers, writers, agents,
reporters and local politicians).
During an unguarded moment...
I even witnessed a GAY WHITE MALE "friend"
of mine (someone I've defended in
the past, Yvette) make the comment
that---"a lot of the darker skinned
black women have a masculine look."
I don't find that true or funny,
but I do KNOW from being around
so many White people when they're
genuinely and innocently being "humorous"
and when they're giving "CODE" for
their racial beliefs.
That NEW YORKER cover was satire, yes
---but there was also a lot of racist
shit that was INTENDED, MEANT and
DELIBERATE by that staff when they
concocted it.
I don't care what anybody says.
And aside from the comments about
Michelle looking like a man (which
they always use to put down her
height--a particular bone for me),
I'm really sick of the CHIMP photos
showing Obama and Michelle as monkeys.
I don't find it amusing AT ALL
and I'm seeing the shit everywhere.
A goddamned Bi-racial child in my
valley (we're still talking CALI)
had a t-shirt with O & M depicted
as Chimps and thought it was "cute"
because "it doesn't mean anything
and that's what they really look
like".

Saturday Night Live needs to nix the white cast member who plays Obama. To me, he looks and sounds nothin like him. |
