Hello All,

Although I have not posted any post concerning any books that I've read lately, I do have a few excuses. I had a little medical procedure a few weeks ago that went very well, but I did little reading. Actually, I was reading a book that I despised. Books that I can't stand but have to read takes me FOREVER to get through them! I got really hooked in the election and its taken me more than a minute to unplug from that.

While going between political sites, I'm looking at TV with the laptop next to me, a dangerous thang. I'm one of those people that if a news item flashes before me or a random thought crosses my mind, I hope on the internet to investigate. This is how I came across The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The entertainment news came on and talked about the casting changes to the CSI cast with Laurence Fishburne coming on board. So, there I go on the internet, plugged in Laurence Fishburne and I'm gone. I'm reading Fishburne's biography on Wikipedia, my favorite info haunting spot, and saw that Fishburne had bought the rights to The Alchemist and hope to make a movie of it. I'm always interested in books, so off to Amazon.com I go. I read the summary about bought a cheap copy of the book. While I was suffering through that one book, I picked up The Alchemist. The book is off the HOOK!

The Alchemist is a parable. The story is how Santiago, a shepherd boy in Spain, from the future reading of a gypsy, leaves Spain to go to find his treasure in Egypt by the pyramids. During his journey, Santiago learns 4 of life's lessons along the way...I was about to tell you, but I changed my mind. I want everyone to read this book. The small novel, really a novella, is so inspiring. This novel does what all of these "I was a ho but know I found Jesus" books tries to do but can not. The book lightened my heart. I am taking the four lessons to heart. Its a moving book.

I was going to write a full blown review of the book until I learned that it was over 20 years old. So, if you can not buy the book (please use us if you do cause we is broke and need the money), go to your library and check it out.

Thump, coincidentally, earlier this morning I completed reading the Coelho's The Alchemist.

I thought this was a great book. I was so moved by the author's work I wanted to make sure more people were aware of it so I an Author's Profile page for Coelho: http://aalbc.com/authors/paulo_coelho.htm

After creating any author's profile page, I usually check to see what other content on the profiled author already exisits on the web site. This is how I discovered this post; which I just read for the first time This post also gives me additional insight into why a review due around that time came in late ;-)

I also found an in depth interview with Coelho that I included on the Coelho profile page.

Peace
