Why would Bill Cosby be weighing in on a lover's quarrel between 2 hip hop superstars?

(He likes to open up his fat mouth every other time he sees Negroes acting out, don't he?

Or is it just for the lower orders he reserves his barbs for?)

If that is what you thought, Chris, you were truly misguided. Hopefully you know better now.

LOS ANGELES -- R&B singer Chris Brown was booked Sunday night on suspicion of making felony criminal threats in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna, according to Los Angeles Police Department sources familiar with the case.

Both he and Rihanna has been scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards Sunday night but pulled out at the last minute.

Brown was booked at the Wilshire Division station and posted $50,000 bail, sources said. He left the station before 9 p.m. Los Angeles police said earlier they planned to detain Brown for questioning on an alleged domestic violence assault.

In an updated statement tonight, police said, additional charges may be filed against Brown when the case is presented to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Brown arrived at the Wilshire Division police station before 7:15 p.m., accompanied by his attorney, Mark Geragos, and Geragos' investigator, Scott Ross. The alleged incident was reported about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the Hancock Park neighborhood.

Brown and Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, were apparently in a car together and got into an argument on North June Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. Brown stopped the car, the two got out, and the argument escalated, according to police. A witness called 911, but Brown was gone when officers arrived at the scene.

The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker, according to police. She and Brown had appeared together Saturday night at Clive Davis's pre-Grammy gala in Beverly Hills. A publicist for the Barbados-born star, who sold more digital song downloads than any other in 2008 with nearly 10 million tracks, said Sunday night, "Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support."

Her song "Disturbia," which she'd been scheduled to perform at the ceremony, was the sixth best-selling digital track of the year. Brown finished 2008 as the fourth-best-selling artist in the digital realm, posting 6.8 million tracks sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

So sad!!

You know, regular people who are having problems with jobs, keeping their homes and just staying afloat in this bad economy are going to grow tired of these kind of stories from those with much to be thankful for.

I think the forgiveness factor will be far less than in the past. These people better grow up and see what the people that made them rich are going through. One redo may be all they get before the public loses interest.

Throw A-Rod/A-Roid on the pile also.

DT, I believe public reaction going forward will be colored by the "spin" (or lack therof) their respective camps try to put on this. I personally would like to see a spin-free process. Let the justice system do its thing, and let the two of them move on in their lives, better and wiser.

Please, no public apologies and PSAs about domestic violence from Chris Brown, that double conveniently as attempts to mend his reputation. Please, no Juanita Bynum-esque public displays of "healing" from Rihanna.

Not that domestic violence should be swept under the table or only dealt with privately, but continued media attention given to this case doesn't reflect the public's genuine concern about domestic violence. It reflects our insatiable hunger for celeb bad behavior, drama, and dirt on a couple previously considered "adorable".

(Never happen.

You know why?

Most people don't have a life. They need these little stories so they can feel good about themselves by looking down on those who get caught with their pants down in public.

Didn't hurt George Bush did it? R. Kelly?

This is America.
