(This is a new poem of mine. I am going to submit it to the Kennesaw Review. They have a annual poetry contest. Give me feedback. Good. Not good. Needs work. Why?)

Watch Me

White eyes trace the length of my stride
the measure of my reach
They don't speak or assist me
They watch me

Their eyes parsing and suspecting glance over my
importance, my being
They watch me

But I say watch me
You want find disingenuousness
I am earnest and labor long like that other man

Watch me
If that makes you feel like your doing your job
But it's that man, white man, you should watch

Your ignorance has served you err
When you look at me I know you see a color, a stereotype
Watch me
But I am none of these
