I read the Alicia Keys book of poetry "Tears for Water"...

I bought this book with my own money...

I actually like to listen Alicia Keys' music...

I want to reimbursed for paying for this book...

it was, well... not palatable.

not...a lot of things.

Damn.

Troy could you reimburse me?

I was going to review it.

But if I do so...that would qualify it as poetry...right?

Has anyone else been inflicted by this?

Damn.

I was given the book as a gift. I was expecting it to be somewhat decent. However, it is definitely lackluster--it has no "edge" or depth.

It just sits on my book shelf....collecting dust.

Moonsigns,

Good to hear from you...and I am so thankful you saw the same thing I did. I tried to read more it last night and just simply is no flow.

It is so adolescent that it's stifling.

I need to sell it or something.

Damn!

Come on, man. Now I'm curious. Give us a small sample.

Hey Yvettep,

I will do exactly that. Someone has been pushing me to officially review it. I will post it A.S.A.P.

Yvettep,

Here is one of the poems.

Hello morning
now I see you
cause I am awake
What was once so sweet and secure
has turned out to be fake
Girl, you can't be scared
gotta stand up tall and let'em see what shines in you
Push aside the part
lying in your heart
like the ocean is deep, dark and blue

so lackluster, right? And the rest of the poems in the book have a similar "tone"--Zzzzzzz!

LOL- Guess it loses something in the translation from "lyric" to "poem". Oh well. Maybe these poems are a function of her youth. I know I look back on some of the things I wrote in my teens and early 20s and cringe. (Not saying I'm any alicia Keys or anything...)

Hi,

I'm new to this board. I am in my early 20's and I have read some of Alicia Keys poems and I agree. But go easy on us young bloods, we're learning too.

I plan on posting some of my work soon. I've been told by poeple young and old that my work is good.I want your honest opinion regarding my work. "Iron sharpens Iron" and I think you ladies will be my iron. But when you sharpen me don't kill me in the process.

God Bless,
Robin Morris
