Dedicated to a real American Hero Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This is the rap, that will end all the crap It's just meant to be, a new start for our history And I want you to know, that we don't call our girls HO! And I want you to see, what we all can be Martin Luther King, the greatest man of all time Gave his life, to satisfy an evil man's crime But he left a legacy, for all of us to see To get an equal education, for you and me Now if you don't know the game, let me explain Because you are living here, in the United States of pain You have to go to school, and study very hard So when you grow older, you can afford a house and a yard Now the only thing that matters, is to get the best of grades So you can go to college, and introduce the whites to the shades That's the way it is today, so don't try and fight it Just learn the game, and one day we can right it Because life is not easy, that's what we know It can be a tough road, a tough road to hoe Your gonna grow up fast, do you hear what I'm saying Study hard now, and later you could be playing Because it’s really up to you, to be the best that you can So tighten up, lighten up, and become a successful friend And don't get hyped, when friends say your trying to be white Just look around your hood, and you will see an awful sight You'll know right there, what you really have to do You must study very hard, to make all your dreams will come true It will all seem so simple, later on in your life When you can sit down, and talk about it with your wife But the bottom line is, that you made it through school And now you’re the best you can be, because you are nobody's fool Because without an education, you won't be going far You'll end up drunk, hanging out in a sleazy bar So you'll really make Martin proud, if you can go on to be A Doctor, a lawyer, or a teacher of history. Now remember these words, and keep'em close to your heart Play the game right, and you'll be off to a great start You'll be able to own a house, with a big back yard Life will be great, and nothing will be hard.
