Seventy-five Percent of Hollywood Black Women Get Plastic Surgery

A Hollywood actress just revealed that the large majority of African American women in Hollywood have gotten plastic surgery. In an unusual move, actress and former 50 Cent sidekick Elise Neal just opened up about the prevalence of plastic surgery among black female celebrities. She also fesses up to having gone under the knife herself.

I think for regular people plastic surgery is a foolish affectation--it still doesn't cure the rot and evil within.

In their case, though they are in a business where looks count and I will not begrudge them any efforts they make to get hired--Jews get nosejobs all the time--and let's not even talk about Joan Rivers.

However, if they had some TALENT it wouldn't matter.

Am I the only one that thinks 75% is an insanely high number?

(I'll be 75% or more white women have had it--they definitely will as they age

Even Streisand, who a long time championed her--ah, Levantine looks, has had a little of that beak lopped off

I have no idea what percentage of Black actresses get plastic surgery. And I don't really care.

But I can't helping thinking that Neal is citing some allegedly high number of peers getting cosmetic surgery to obfuscate and perhaps minimize the fact that SHE got some work done.

half of those celebrities in the article looked better BEFORE the surgery.

for example vivica fox and patty labelle looked better before the surgery.

and beyonce didnt even need the surgery because she looked just as good without it.

Tisha Campbell and Vivica Fox looked better before plastic surgery, imo.

Li'l Kim...let me just leave that poor thang alone.

I understand they face pressure to look younger ...but these procedures don't necessarily have that effect. It seems they are choosing to look knifed up rather than older.

I didn't realize Patti had had plastic surgery.

(I think you're right. Tell that to Michael Jackson. They apparently go crazy, obsessing over every wrinkle and bump)

elise neal looked better before her plastic surgery and amerie looked just as good before it as she does now.

(right again)

now kelly's surgery was actually an improvement judging from the pictures

(Rroowwww! Somebody needs a saucer of milk!)

Tisha Campbell and Vivica Fox looked better before plastic surgery, imo.

(On the one)

Li'l Kim...let me just leave that poor thang alone.

(Don't do it! Let it ALL hang out! This is the AALBC, not the Sisters of Mercy!)

I didn't realize Patti had had plastic surgery.

(Yep. She looked fine before. But apparently them showbiz folks start obsessing and staring in the mirror and hearing the footsteps of Father Time.

Not just Showbiz folks. I had an Uncle, now deceased, spent four grand on getting his profile altered back in the 70's.

Damn fool looked exactly the same when they finished--God Rest His Soul)

Chris: Picking on Li'l Kim is liking making fun of disabled people. She's clearly got a Problem.

Maybe Body Dysmorphic Disorder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_dysmorphic_disorder
...or maybe your garden variety self-hate.

Either way, it's sad to see.

I criticize celebs who have plastic surgery but I also find myself finding fault with the imperfections of actresses because I expect them to look better than the average person!

Plastic surgery should improve a person's looks, not change them.

I have a thing about noses. And the degree to which a nose is well-sculpted determines whether or not I think a performer is pretty or good looking. Just an eccentricity of mine. Usher has a HORRIBLE nose and Oprah has a snout.

Slightly off topic, but...

In case any other fans of the show out there missed episodes due to the writers' strike, all of last season's episodes of Nip/Tuck are available on Hulu.com. I thought they couldn't top the wildness of previous years. Boy was I wrong! LOL

I'm becoming kinda ambivalent about plastic surgery. Yeah, I decry the phoniness of LaLa Land. Still, as a man, I can't help thinking if the tits look and feel real WTF should I be bothered by where they came from?

Btw: Neal's weave in the right pic looks FRIGHTENING. It looks as if some sort of alien life form that is sprouting from out the top of her head is about to devour her entire body.

"...and patty labelle looked better before the surgery"

Actually, I've seen pictures of Patti from back in the day and the problem to me was the wild stuff she used to wear. The space outfits, wild hair and hair accessories, and the chalky ashy-looking opaque make-up were all gross. I agree, the nose was fine, but the get-up DEFINITELY needed a makeover, imo.

"I have no idea what percentage of Black actresses get plastic surgery. And I don't really care."

Thank you. I have never understood the fascination of what celebrities do in their personal lives. This "tabloid-I-don't-have-a-life-so-I'll-live-through- yours" preoccupation with what stars and celebrities do is beyond sad.

"But I can't helping thinking that Neal is citing some allegedly high number of peers getting cosmetic surgery to obfuscate and perhaps minimize the fact that SHE got some work done."

You're probably right. And even if you weren't, why would anyone care? And if they did -SO WHAT??!!

Ntfs,

Actors/actresses make their living via marketing their personal image. And their imagery can (not saying it SHOULD) affect how others view and style themselves.

Thus, I think the whys and hows media stars look might be worthy of some special observation and discussion.

But I would agree that such is greatly overwrought.

Bro ABM, you're probably right. But personally, I could care less. I love the acting of Samuel Jackson, Judi Dench, Robert Deniro, Morgan Freeman and Sally Fields. But the information about boob jobs, butt jobs, who they sleep with or what they paid for their house is meaningless to me. But again, that's me....*Shrugs*.....
