Enjoyed all your post that have energized the board. It's like old times.IMO your post bring a energy to the board that will be enhanced by the opions of those that have been on hiatus, for whatever reason (Kola, Thumper etc) Have also enjoyed your poetry. You appear to be very creative. Have you missed your calling? You have skills tht you should try to capitalize on.

Hello Sese

Again you've made my day! I just knew you were around. Thank you for the compliments, I respect your opinion. Not that I don't place value on others that have incouraged me, I've always known you to be a standup person. You didn't tell me that you had ties to Grambling? See, that's what I'm talking about. Some might have championed that little tidbit as if that gave them a pass. You know, like some people become their jobs...that's who they are.

Hey y'all.. (I hope she doen't mind)...I've spoken with Sese on a few occasions and although we talked a little about her move to Ohio(the board...mostly)...she didn't go into great detail and never mentioned Grambling. She's classy...even her voice speaks of class.

A liitle story:

Sisgal, like Chris, just recently told me that my poem was alright. Chris and I have been doing this board thing for some time and we generally ride together, so I kind of expected him to be my ..."float like a butterfly, sting like a bee...rumble young man rumble"....My Bundini Brown.

I've also had a relationship with Sisgal, she always says hello. So I've appreciated their "shouts".... yet leary.

I was in a writing class at Ball State...yep, Muncie Ind. It was an elective....something to do.. and I thought it would go well with a speech/communications class I was taking.

The professor was big on spontaneous writing. He would give us a subject and tell us to write .......now.

I wasn't big on this off the cuff thang and I usually did horibly... One day he gave us an assignment and he let us take it home. Well...a few days after we turned it in... he came up to me and quietly said, " I can't give you a grade on this, who wrote it"? I thought....now I've done it, the mess was so bad that he thought my little sister wrote it. I said, "I did, why"? He said it was very good and that he would like to publish it for me. He said it needed some correction (y'all know I care little about spelling)but for the most part he thought it was nice work. He told me that he couldn't make the corrections...but would advise me...so that it would remain my work. See, I am not a writer and to be published meant little to me ....I blew it off. There's more to that story....more regrets...but hey...

Enter Sese...she says, in part, "Carey you got a little something" . See Y'all, I am a talker...there are millions of brilliant starving writers that really have skills. Many visit this board and have two jobs. I've been somewhere....really....I have a story to tell....really....but I am a Voyeur *smile*....no....I am a talker. I try to make people forget about their day and share a laugh. I've been Ni**a rich yet I love today.

To have someone appreciate what I do is great...I need that...THANKS!

Having said that...I have a friend that said he got the call. Yep, said he was called to the poolpit.
Of course I couldn't question that call but I told him to look at that caller ID real well to make sure that the call was from God ....and if it was to be forewarned that the devil is on call waiting.... because now he's in his workshop....he's on his battleground.

In preparation for his big day he did a thing at his church....a short sermon type thing in which I didn't attend. I couldn't remember him being a good speaker but maybe just maybe god gave him the tools when he gave him the call. He told me that many friends and family told him he did a good job. He had ran a few things by me before he did his thang and I thought then that he may be trouble. But again, who was I to step in and say anything of a negative nature.
The big day came in which he was to do a full sermon. They had church flyers and everything ...annoucing his coming out. He's had some struggles in his life so this was a big deal. My brother of the struggle had turned it around.

He was terrible.....ta-ta-ta...TERRRIBLE! I was embarrassed for him. He was sweating and everything. He lost his way on several occasions and his message was disjointed to say the least. He even tried the old pounding on the podium thang. He jumped from scripture to scripture ....tying none together...I thought he was going to breakout in Martin's "I had a dream" speech.....he should have because he was dreaming if he thought anyone other than his wife would get anything out of that other than pain. He should never been let lose on the congregation. Horrible.....AND he went on for about an hour.....that's what I was told ....I couldn't take anymore at the 45 minute mark. I had even invited others. In fact I had a lady friend with me and the look on her face was one of......."so this is your boy". I felt guilty...yet I tried to get him to ask others if he was ready...I told him that family and friends may wish him well but if he wanted to really know if he was ready, that he should approach those that didn't shake his hand after his first little thang and ask their opinion. I encouraged him to ask someone that would give it to him in the raw...someone that wouldn't stroke him...well he didn't do that and boy oh boy...he stunk. He wasn't quite the same after that. I think he had invisioned himself as another T. Jakes....that was a Mis-Jake.

The moral......THANKS......I think? *lol*

Carey,

Your posts are so wonderful. :-)

You need to start writing that book, child.

I see you didn't like the awful photo of me
that Troy posted.

Rest assured that I don't actually look that
bad in person as many other people's photos
have bared out. I'm still mad at Troy for
posting that when he had better ones.

One thing I LOVED about BEA was how so many
men kept buying me dinner.

Including Troy.

It was the most fun I've had in a long time,
and I got to meet Zane and Ron Kavanaugh.

Zane was very shy and I went up and hugged
and kissed her. I told her that she's great
and that we need to put our "tiff" behind us
and she agreed. She was so sweet.

A lot of "bullshit" was said about me by others
though. The usual stories.

Kola,

I wouldn't say I didn't like it...it was interesting. It's also interesting how women depend on something other than themselves. Men...we are always in the raw...well...most...we don't have makeup and things....so...no...I like to see an women with nothing on...I mean...I prefer no makeup..and nothing on...then the beauty shines. You know that if some women wipe a nice hot wash rag across their face their whole face ends up in their hand...you know what I'm talking about....it's an illusion....I don't like to be tricked...played with but not tricked...huh...yeah, you feel me.

Oh, I was reading my "parts of a whole" post and to my dismay I noticed that I didn't include your name or Thumpers. How could I have forgotten the Potatoe Salad...the sweet potatoe pie on Christmas. Maybe it's just like God, we all know he's there but sometime....sometimes forget how good he's been.

Now hold on Deep Chocolate African Diva...I'm not comparing you to God...but you know what I mean *wink*.

Carey, thanks.

But you misunderstood me.

I feel that I look fine without makeup.

It's the "angle" of the shot and the
GOOFEY expression on my face, plus
being "hunched down" that I feel makes
me look different than I actually look
in person.

I honestly don't mind people seeing my
skin and features with no make up on.

Am flattered that you ask. Divorced since 1958, never remarried or shacked, never been one to fool around. Very prudish.

Just looked up prude and do not think that it is the best adjective to describe my personaluty. Will say that my behavior is guided by moral principles. Enough said.
