So Obama has, by some counts, an insurmountable lead in delegates.

So What?

As long as he doesn't have the magic number of 2,024 and his lead is not truly astounding, Hillary is not going to pull out.

I wouldn't either.

We all know the ugly little secret that the Super Delegates can vote anyway they want (and avoid suffering any consequences by calling for a voice vote during the convention, voting for one candidate or the other, and then denying it,

An even uglier secret is that the PLEDGED DELEGATES can vote anyway they want, too.

If Obama does not get a majority on the first vote it is back to the smoke filled rooms.

Everybody is talking about what they would do.

They ain't gonna do spit.

So what Hillary might lose? So what Obama people might desert her? So what?

This is it! If she don't make it this year she probably will never get another chance. She got nothing to lose. Even if she causes a horrible train wreck and the Party goes down in defeat she still got a Senate seat.

So sit back and enjoy the popcorn. Barring some frightful development she is in this til the bitter end.

In her shoes, I would do the same thing.

Boy, this is really your flip flop day, chrishayden. First you're absolving white folks of black resentment. And now you're empathizing with Hillary. You are so full of it.

I don't think people understand this.

If she stays and wins, we're not talking about a defeated party for one election. The Democrats would lose Black voters for GENERATIONS...

...Part of the brilliance of Obama's speech.

When you add this historical document to what surely would happen this fall on Election Day (if Obama is not the nominee), we're talking 60's riots meets I have a dream and shit. Blacks will protest on Election Day. They won’t simply not show up that day, nah. They'll have an all out protest ON ELECTION DAY.

And you’d have the type of history that gets passed down for GENERATIONS.

Which would redefine the entire Party. The Party would have a new identity, one that would include the word racist (right or wrong). And liberals and white progressive would no longer find it prudent to associate themselves with the party (increasingly). And it would be this way for GENERATIONS.

The Dems have no choice; they HAVE TO nominate Barack Obama.

If they don't, the party will come apart permanently.

(And it'll be a protest that will include a boycott. Who will they boycott?--the Democrats.)

Talk about the politics of fear...

"If you don't nominate Senator Obama, we'll burn down our own neighborhoods..." *smdh*

James Carville (finally) said something that made sense this morning. If the voters want Senator Obama as the nominee, all they have to do is vote for him in Pennyslvania and HRC will be gone for good.

Hillary is using the kitchen sink polictics at Obama and quite frankly the only item they have is Rev Wright...so da hell what...I can't begin to tell you how many times I've sat in a church and listen to a pastor expouse shyt that I didn't agree with, doesn't mean I left the church...but as a race...blacks have a short memory and are quick to forgive most slights against us...so the Dem's aren't going to anything...most people I know said they have no anti-vote, nor do I...I wouldn't vote for Clinton or McCain and with the new machines we have here in Maryland, I can't even write in Obama's name.

As usual, Robymarie, you advance an idea that makes good sense.

All of these people who take their bats and go home because their team doesn't win, can sit around and pout for the next 4 years.

"If you don't nominate Senator Obama, we'll burn down our own neighborhoods..."

The clever thing about this statement is you can insert Hillary's name in it and it would ring just as true. Mrs. Clinton just compared Reverend Wright to Don Imus. Surely that was directed at white voters in Pennsylvania & elsewhere. And, no doubt, throughout much of white America her message was well received. Dividing the electorate along racial lines is just as hood and ghetto as your statement implies, and quite unpatriotic since the house she's asking her constituents to burn down is America.

White folks ain't gonna burn down their neighborhoods if Hillary doesn't get the nomination. Her staid supporters are not that rabid or that much into her. They will either vote for McCain or Obama.
Barak's folowers will be the ones who will go berserk if he is not nominated.

The Dems have no choice; they HAVE TO nominate Barack Obama.

(Not true)

If they don't, the party will come apart permanently.

(Probably true)

Barak's folowers will be the ones who will go berserk if he is not nominated

(That' a racist comment--but what else is new? You think Bill Richardson and Teddy Kennedy will go berserk? How about Oprah?)

James Carville (finally) said something that made sense this morning. If the voters want Senator Obama as the nominee, all they have to do is vote for him in Pennyslvania and HRC will be gone for good.

(Hey, if Carville is for Obama, all he gotta do is persuade Hillary to get out)

Of course, you woulnd't go berserk if Obama didn't get the election, crissy. You would just break down in tears and cry like the wimp who you are. And if you think the Democratic convention wouldn't erupt in disorder if Barak doesn't get the nomination, then you are more stupid than I thought you were.

"That's a racist comment..."

Or just ignorant:

According to a new Pew poll, 32% of Clinton supporters say they'll vote for McCain if Hillary doesn't take the nomination. An almost identical 28% of Obama's faithful claim they'll pull a Republican lever if Clinton tops their candidate. http://people-press.org/reports/pdf/407.pdf

Similar polls have been circulating for months.

Does that mean, Tonya, that white people will burn down their neighborhoods as YOU suggested when you wrote:

"If you don't nominate Senator Obama, we'll burn down our own neighborhoods..."
The clever thing about this statement is you can insert Hillary's name in it and it would ring just as true."
That's what I was disputing. Everybody knows that a certain percentage of each Democratic candidate will defect to their opponent or the Republican side. You don't have to be a slave to polls to figure this out.

"Everybody knows that a certain percentage of each Democratic candidate will defect to their opponent or the Republican side."

32% is too high for the mostly poor and single or elderly white women that Hillary is (was) attracting. Not all of her folks are Reagan Democrats; most are single or elderly and poor and are folks who wouldn't normally vote Rep.
