Another Yalie Embarrasses Obama

Another Barack Obama adviser had to resign today after making incendiary statements about Hillary Clinton. Maxim Thorne, formerly a chief at the Human Rights Campaign and, until today, a member of Obama's Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/ Transgender Leadership Council, recently e-mailed a lengthy anti-Clinton screed that began by declaring Clinton "a disaster for the Democratic Party" and went on to question Hillary's whereabouts "when Monica was having sex with Bill" and assert that "when Bin Laden was building Al Qaeda, Bill and she were fighting impeachment, fighting Paula Jones, fighting Katherine Wiley." Thorne resigned almost immediately after the e-mail surfaced.

Thorne has an undergraduate and law degree from Yale, making him the third Yalie in recent weeks to embarrass Obama with an apparent inability to grasp a fundamental rule of campaign warfare (namely, don't speak freely). Also Yale grads: Austan Goolsbee, who allegedly told a foreign government that Obama was just kidding about his opposition to NAFTA, and Samantha Power, who told reporters that Clinton was a "monster" and that Obama might keep troops in Iraq longer than he's saying on the campaign trail. Great work, nerds!

WOW...this guy was driving everyone on the Yale Black Alum Network e-list NUTS! Even the Obama supporters found him grating. He really brought the histrionics and just flooded the otherwise civil list with propaganda and inflammatory stuff.

*smh*

I wonder what he's going to say on the list now that he's gotten himself canned.

The plot thickens...

A fellow alum just told me that the email that caused Maxim to resign was something he sent to our private Yale black alum e-list (one of his many tirades) that was leaked by someone from our e-list.

Like I said, he pissed people off. And while he was over the top, that was shady. We all post with the presumption that our comments won't be leaked to the media, and I think that's a safe presumption, mostly.

However, someone in Maxim's position should have known better and used more discretion, esp. with so much at stake.

This contest between Obama and HRC seems to bring out both the worst and best in people. It's like these 2 are catalysts for the repressed grievances and hidden needs of both Blacks and Whites.

...to embarrass Obama with an apparent inability to grasp a fundamental rule of campaign warfare (namely, don't speak freely).

I would modify the above statement to read: "don't speak freely if you're a black man running for office. That's a right only granted Ol' Missy Clinton and her entourage. Muzzle all the people who work for you Obama,...and whatever you do, don't call Missy Hillary anything but a wonderful white lady, who is a peach to run with" or you will percieved as another angry black man taking advantage of poor little Hillary."

I'm sick of all of them!

Bush was asked a few weeks ago if it was true we'd see 4 dollar a gallon gas by the summer and he smugly denied hearing anything about it with that irritating smirk on his face. With the recent 20 cent a gallon price hike that happened over night. We may see 4 dollars by early spring!
