Blacks are no longer the largest minority in the United States. We no longer matter to Clinton and have been traded off for Hispanics. Black support for Obama will not stop Clinton but could create a white backlash nationwide that goes for Clinton. These people want to win at all costs and who gets thrown under the bus does not matter.

Hispanics see this as their chance to flex their muscle as the largest minority and Clinton is courting them. We are viewed as competition for resources and with a black candidate in the race, Hispanics are solidly behind Clinton.

The black politicians behind Clinton need to look around because they are yesterday's news. We are now poised to be used as a tool of division. The real response will be if Clinton wins the nomination with these tactics is that it could fracture the bond between blacks and the Democratic party. The reason is that the black electorate will have witnessed how they were used as pawns in a nasty game that showed how little the candidate valued them. I have voted always Democratic except for Ross Perot. Right now I'm listening to all of the candidates from both parties.

Hillary wants to be the first Hispanic American President, who happens to be a woman.

Que Pasa.

IMO, if Hillary gets the nod, she will offer the vice presidency to Obama. And vice-versa. These 2 will need each other in the months ahead, and their backers need to stop the madness.

In the heat of the battle, rabid rooters have developed an "us" against "them" mentality. Hillary and Barak are both Democrats. It's time to put an end to the vitriolic accusations, most of which are based on distortions and hearsay.

In any case, Democrats who cross over in order to express their discontent may live to regret it.

It also remains to be seen if the monster the internet has created will end up determining who wins the election. Cyberspace has become the enabler for the mudslinging that has obliterated the issues and fractured party unity.

I just don't think Hillary will choose Obama as a running mate. They don't like each other and have had too many words between their campaigns. It sounds nice but I don't think it'll happen.

Well, Satina, it depends on how much the Dems want to promote party unity, how much they want to win back the white house and what deals are made behind closed doors at the convention.

Remember, "politics makes strange bedfellows". LBJ and JFK didn't like each other, either, but they were expedient and ran together on the same ticket, eventually winning the presidency.

yep, it's time for blacks to take a different approach and treat politics like a business, the black vote might not carry much weight but the black dollar will. you don't hear anything about asians or arabs votes mattering that much, but their money does and it's all behind closed doors and secret meetings that they get what they need.

cynique, i agree with what your saying, but i don't think they would run 2nd fiddle to each other. if either of them pulls it off they are going to have to be perfect as it is, because either of them would be the most critiqued president ever. if your going to have that kind of pressure, you want to be the one getting blamed for your screw ups instead of being blamed for someone else's and have your chances ruined in the end. besides edwards is probably trying to worm his way to get that vp nod from obama or hilldawg. i do think the nastier this gets the them vs. us attitude will cause some people just to not vote or vote for independent or republican just cause they've invested too much emotion into this. i guess in the long run, everyone is going to have hope whoever holds the presidency is better than bush ... which for some reason i don't seeing be too hard of a thing to do.

Well, Dobes, obviously all bets are off where this quixotic campaign is concerned. The national conventions won't be held until summer, and a lot can happen between now and then. I've retreated into the role of spectator.
