Well, like I said before, lie to the feds and ya go to jail. I wonder if our alleged steroid supplemented baseball stars are trembling in their booties now? The plot thickens.....
Marion Jones given six months in prison

WHITE PLAINS, New York (Reuters) - Disgraced sprinter Marion Jones was sentenced to six months in prison on Friday for lying to federal prosecutors about her steroid use, a stunning downfall for the five-time Olympic medalist.
District Court Judge Kenneth Karas imposed the sentence after Jones pleaded guilty to two charges last October, when she retired from athletics and tearfully confessed to betraying the trust of her fans after years of denying she used performance enhancing drugs.
"Your honor, I absolutely realize the gravity of these offenses and I am deeply sorry," Jones told the judge, crying as she pleaded not to be separated from her two young sons.
"I pray that you be as merciful as a human being can be," she said.
Karas gave Jones six months for lying about steroid use and two months -- to run concurrently -- for a separate charge of misleading federal investigators about her knowledge of a check fraud case involving her ex-boyfriend, former 100 meters world record holder Tim Montgomery.
She confessed to lying to federal investigators in 2003 when she denied knowing that she took the banned substance tetrahydrogestrinone (THG), known as "the clear," before the 2000 Olympics.
Karas noted the elevated status of athletes in society and said using drugs sent the wrong message. He also said he did not believe her statement in October when she said she did not realize she was taking steroids until after the 2000 Games.
Jones had told the judge she believed she was taking flaxseed oil and continued to use it until July 2001. She said she realized she was taking a performance enhancer after she found she was unable to train as intensively and did not recover as quickly once she stopped taking the substance.
"That is very difficult to believe, that a top-notch athlete ... would not be keenly aware of what he or she put in her body," Karas said. "It was a troubling statement."
Jones, 32, became the biggest name in international sport to admit to using steroids with her guilty plea in October, when she returned her medals from the Sydney Games.
Prosecutors had agreed to a light sentence because Jones agreed to cooperate in a separate investigation of her former coach and onetime Olympic relay gold medalist, Steve Riddick, who was due to be sentenced on Friday, also for bank fraud.
As part of her plea deal, prosecutors asked the judge for a sentence ranging from no prison time to six months in prison, and defense lawyers asked for mercy because she had suffered public humiliation.
Jones has been stripped of the five track and field medals she won in Sydney, three of them gold, and all of her performances as of September 2000 have been erased from the record books.
Jones, who once pulled in millions of dollars in product endorsements, is now in financial ruin.

Poor Marian. I feel sorry for her. She probably won't serve the entire 6 months?

Of all the b*tchmade a$$ MEN like Mark McGuire, Jose Canseco, Rafeal Palmario, Barry Bonds, Sean Merriman, etc who got steroid plants growing from out of their a$$holes, they chose a WOMAN, someone who's already publicly admitted to using (utterly and irrevocably ruining herself in the process), to make an example of?

she should get hit up for the check fraud, but as far as the roids... who cares. chris webber lied and didnt have to serve a single day in jail, but if they hit martha stewart up for lieing you know they would've gotten jones sweet supple yet muscular brown ass. |
