Hey Y'all I'm at the National Book Club Conference here in Atlanta. It is really aterrific event and a great opportunity to meet book lovers from around the country.
Organizers tell me there are 600 attendees -- seems like more. Everyone is smart, pleasant, social - it really is a nice atmosphere.
Of course it is nice to hear positive feedback from folks who are familiar with AALBC.com.
I got to see Sisgal again and meet A_womon for the first time.

Cynique, what is the name of your daughter's book club? Tell your daughter to look out for me and say hello.
I'm just back from hearing Iyanla speak she is a funny (humorous) woman. I can really see how she as well a Terry McMillan truly reasonate with women. I not talking about the youngins; I think you need a little age on you and a little experience to truly get them...
I'm taking a break from the rest of the event until this evening's gala. I have not decided if I'm gonna just chill in the room, take a drive, or go to the pool and have a drink...
Of the 560 regsitrants, I would guess about 20 are men. I understand why there are not more men here. Were it not for AALBC.com I would not be here.
I'm truly glad I came though.

Of course, I was just kidding about a_womon being chrishayden; hence the Bwa-ha-ha! She and I correspondended off-line several years ago, but I forgot what her name was!
I have talked to my daughter several times, Troy, and she says she's been looking out for you and for the AALBC booth(?) but so far no luck. The name of our book club is "You Go, Girl". She did attend the panel that Diane Dorce participated in. |

Hey Carey I have at least 300 photos from the event. I'm sure none of the subjects will subject me to the drama that "the one who shall remain nameless" put me through - for no GD reason... Anyhow
I was talking to a couple of friends at breakfast this morning and was just comenting how many interesting conversation I had this week. I spoke to so many smart, accomplished women from all over the country it was almost staggering.
My friend Linda explained, "Troy, it is because they READ". It dawned on me that should have been obvious. I thought to myself maybe I watch too much CNN.
Single Brothers; if you know what I know -- you'll check out the event next year.
And it would not hurt to join or form a book club too.

I have no idea what a_womon's real name is, Carey. As I said, it was about 5 years ago that we e-mailed each other briefly and I really did forget her name which is why I'll never know the name of her book. It's not something I have to lie about but, as usual, you have to put your spin on things - and as usual you are so busy looking that you apparently didn't see the picture that Troy posted of him and Kola together, when they had lunch together in California at another book event. Sheeze. |

Talk about somebody taking things seriously! You didn't think it was such a big joke when I quipped that a_womon and chrishayden were the same person, Carey.
I always like to clear things up for others on the board when there's an "inside" conversation between me and another person so there won't be any false assumptions.
Why would you want to delete anything? What does that accomplish??? We said, what we said. So be it. |

Left to right me, and authors David Rivera, Victor Mcglothin, Eric Jerome Dickey.
We were hanging out at a club called the Blue Room (I think). I got back to the hotel about 3:30AM and was ready to crash, and who did I see hanging strong but none other than our own Sisgal -- looking fresh as a daisy! Sisgal was like, "Whats the matter bro, can't hang?!" (smile) |

I don't think you know me, but I've certainly heard of you and AALBC. That's part of the reason why a sista is here. However, if I have my way (knock on wood) you will one day know me. So we might as well get on a first name basis now. LOL.
I believe A_Womon is one of the generous souls who visited my blog and read some of the snippets of my work I have posted there for feedback. She seems to think I have potential and I think she must be a very astute lady...LOL. |

Cynique, I'm disappointed I did not get to meet one of your offspring. Hopefully you see fit to attend next year.
I hope the event continues to improve. I met quite a few fascinating people. This was Probably the best book event I attended in the last few years.
Now that I think about it I did not attend a single author's reading...
It really was a people event for me.
