Can't recall if Mosaic has been mentioned here before or not, but check it out:

http://mosaicmagazine.org/

"Launched in 1998, Mosaic is a quarterly magazine exploring the literary landscapes of Black and Latino writers. Each issue contains a unique blend of essays, profiles, and reviews."

Ferocious one, Thanks for mentioning Mosaic Magazine. I realize I focus on MosaicBooks.com, the commerical entity, but rarely do I mention Mosaic Literary Magazine -- I just recieved the latest issue a few days ago.

The publisher Ron Kavanaugh is a good biddy of mine and we work together on both the profit and not for profit side. I'm a board memeber of the Literary Freedom Project which publishes Mosaic Magazine.

Actually if you are really interested you may down load some back issues here: http://aalbc.com/writers/mosaic.htm

Current Issue

Featuring Frank X. Walker: Affrilachian, Historian, and Poetic Pioneer

"Black Appalachians. Together, the words may sound like a setup for a sketch comedy segment. But, then again, you’ve never read the work of Frank X. Walker."

FerociousKitty, if you are interested in promoting important writers and literacy, I'd encourage you to make a tax deductible contribution to The Literary Freedom Project: http://www.reversefestival.com/projects.htm (that goes for you other posters & lurkers too!)

The Literary Freedom Project is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt not-for-profit arts organization. LFP supports writers of African and Latino descent through education initiatives and print.

Thanks for mentioning this.

p.s. I read your article linked in another post. I wish there were more people, like you, who used their brains when they wrote.

Thanks, Troy, for the info and links, and for the compliment. ;-)

I subscribed to Mosaic yesterday, and do find them worthy of a donation. I plan to promote the mag on my blog as well.

I heard about it from the Kalamu e-list when someone posted an interview with Ron Kavanaugh.
