Have you seen the AALBC.com review of Sojourner’s Dream - Book Reviewed by Idrissa Uqdah (http://www.aalbc.com/reviews/sojourners_dream.htm)?
In addition, to the sites mentioned the book is also available for sale on AALBC.com.
While I was not surprised to see AALBC.com missing your the list, I was intrigued by target.com being mentioned as a suggested source for this book.
I see that Amazon is now providing the technology and fulfillment for books sold on Target’s web site. Amazon is really smart.

I've never figured out why black people feel that have to support black authors, especially self-published ones. Just because a black book is written by a black person doesn't mean it's a good book. And if it's a bad book, its author shouldn't be encouraged to subject the world to any more of his or her garbage. LOL |

Imagine, someone with the name "Afrika" comes to a Black owned web site to post ads for Target no less.
Honestly, I don't mind this "Afrika" poster too much. It takes all kinds of posters to make an interesting board. While this poster writes things I find irksome, I don't see a bannable offense. I've even hyped SistahsSupportingBlackAuthors here myself.

Cynique,
I love a well-written book by an African-American author that has characters and a plot I can relate to. However, there are plenty of books by non-Blacks to choose from as well. I support our books first with dollars, reviews, recommendations, or by increasing library circulation by borrowing. Of course, I can't support every book written by an African-American because I would not only go broke but I would be disappointed by some of the work out there.
BTW, I get the "Sistahs" and AALBC newsletters, and they are both very good. |

Obviously all of Afrika's free/cheap/ghetto marketing techniques must not be working if she's got to come here and pimp her books, and tell people to go directly to Amazon when all the books available at AALBC are Amazon which is inconsiderate to the webmaster since she's using his bandwidth to post here. No it's not OK to play the age card when it's "reversed". Injecting age into an argument always dilutes it if it's irrelvent to the what's being discussed, and if what is attributed to age is distorted. |
