Meet Brooklyn Author Jacqueline Woodson and Illustrator E.B. Lewis at Books of Wonder, Saturday, March 19, 2003 at Noon Their book Coming On Home Soon was named a 2004 Caldecott Honor Book. (New York, NY) – Books of Wonder, NYC’s largest independent children’s bookseller, is pleased to host a special event with the winner of this year’s Caldecott Medal, as well as all three of the Caldecott Honorees. The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association to “the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children” and is the highest award given to books for young children in America. It is a rare treat for the public to meet both the winner and honorees at the same time. Scheduled to appear are KEVIN HENKES, winner of the 2004 Caldecott Medal for Kitten’s First Full Moon and Caldecott Honorees Barbara Lehman (author/illustrator of The Red Book), MO WILLEMS (author and artist of Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale), and E.B. Lewis (illustrator of Coming On Home Soon), accompanied by his collaborator, JACQUELINE WOODSON, author of Coming On Home Soon. Jacqueline Woodson’s picture books and novels have won her legions of fans and a long list of awards, including two National Book Award Finalists, a Los Angeles Times Book Prize and a Coretta Scott King Medal. E.B. Lewis is the celebrated illustrator of many books for children, and has received a Coretta Scott Knig Award as well as a Coretta Scott King Honor for his work. Each of these award-winning authors and artists will give a brief presentation at noon, followed by a question and answer session, and then will be on hand until 2 pm to sign copies of all of their wonderful books.
