The National Book Club Conference has established a literary event that avid readers embrace as a one-of-a-kind occasion to convene, socialize, chat and enjoy authors of some of their favorite works.

Terry McMillan



TERRY MCMILLAN is the critically acclaimed and bestselling author who changed the culture of black literature. Her novel, "Waiting To Exhale," set a standard of contemporary African-American storytelling and charged the surge of a genre thought to be of little consequence to major publishing houses. She will receive the Walter Mosley Author of Distinction Award at this year's NBCC. Ms. McMillan's highly anticipated new book, The Interruption of Everything will be released July 17. Her other works have been best-sellers and embraced: Disappearing Acts, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Day Late and a Dollar Short. "Stella" and "Waiting To Exhale" have been turned into successful feature films. She is also the editor of Breaking the Ice: An Anthology of Contemporary African-American Fiction.

J. CALIFORNIA COOPER is one of the leading literary voices in the world.
