The Inaugural Leimert Park Village Book Festival will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2007 from 10am - 6pm. This festival will include writers, storytellers, spoken word artists, poets, musicians, publishers, booksellers and exhibitors. The purpose of this event will be to provide the community access to writers and their work and conversely, provide writers and spoken word artists a space to network with other artists/exhibitors and sponsors. The book festival promises to be an even greater event with the addition of four literary villages including a main stage, children’s area, spoken word stage and cook’s corner. A special opening reception by Eso Won Bookstore will take place the previous evening, Friday, April 6, 2007. Because the program is free to the community, we appreciate support from authors, book clubs, and you! In organizing this event, our goal is simple; to combat illiteracy and encourage interest in and support of the literary arts. Volunteers are sorely needed.
