With all the heated debates on race discrimination and woman bashing; I was wondering . . . What is the one time that you can really remember personally being discriminated against and what did you do?

There are many more than one--let me just pick one

1963. I missed the first bus home after school. I was standing at the bus stop and a gang of white teenagers (I was 12 or 13) in black leather jackets snarling just ran up and started beating my ass.

A teacher interfered and rescued me from a sure trip to the emergency ward. I didn't know any of them. I don't remember if I told my parents about it or not. Getting beat up or in fights was something that happened from time to time and unless you were marked up or had to go to the hospital you pretty much forgot about it--just like when you beat people up, which I did a few times, too.

I answered questions about it the next dayfrom the school authorities. If anything happened to them I never heard about it.

That is just one. I got a million of them.

I grew up in St. Louis, MO in the 50's and 60's.

What you ask about, Linda, in my personal experience, was more implied than verbalized, and I would react, in kind, by exercising passive resistance. Now, if I wanted to be facetious, when it comes to being racially discriminatd against in the context of female-bashing, I could go no further than this board, and cite how a frustrated chrishayden on a regular basis, desperately refers to me as a "negro" while engaging in the male chauvinistic practice of trying to devalue me because of my age. How do I respond to this?? While firing off a retort, I gloat about how easy it is to push chrishayden's buttons and ignite his short fuse. LMAO.

Cyniqua:

Watch as I demolish you again with one brain tied behind my back.

How could I be discriminating against you?

Racially?
Impossible. I am not white. I am, I assume the same race as you are, and my comments have not been directed against you on the basis of your race but your philosophies, comments and positions.

I have read where you stated you preferred to be called "Colored". Since Negro is an even more advanced term than that, I could not be devaluating you.

You state that I engage in the male chauvanistic practice of devaluating you because of your age.
You have mixed apples and airplanes here. Again, I have not devalued you because of your age. I have destroyed, devastated and debozzitized (I just made that one up) you based on your opinions, positions, and statements.

Further, I have to be doing one or the other, but not both. Either engaging in age discrimination, or sex discrimination.

I have done neither. I have not interfered with your right to property, a job, etc based on either your age or sex. I have not used any of the sexist terms generally in use, nor have I attempted to use my admittedly superior position to force you into an unwanted relationship, nor have I engaged in sexually harassment.

Your move.

I dated a white guy once (or twice) who insisted that I pretend that I was half white before he would introduce me to his parents. They were all KINDS of cursed out...and I never did meet their parents, but whatever.

I've been called "bytch" a few times on the train by guys who wanted my number and once by a guy who bumped INTO ME. I didn't say anything, but usually it was because they were with other guys (and a couple of times I had my son with me). What am I supposed to do as a woman with a child with me against a group of men? But if he were alone and I were alone, I probably would have made a bigger deal out of it.

In case you didn't notice, I prefaced my remarks about you by using the word "facetious", chrishayden.

I've had the word "facetious" in my vocabulary for Yeeears, chrishayden, because I've had so many occasions to use it. And as I just mentioned in another post in regard to your "single-mindedness", if you weren't more focused on the destination than the journey, you would have noticed the word "facetious" on your way to immediately trying to one-up me. tsk-tsk.
