Curious: Has anyone here ever used genetic/DNA technology as part of a family history or ancestry search?
If so, how/why did you decide to use it? Had you been involved already in traditional means of searching (e.g., through public records)?
If you haven't, what do you think about these as tools for genealogical searching?

I'm kinda hesitant to do the DNA geneological stuff. 'Cause I'd hate to discover something crazy like I'm actually more Dutch than I'm Black. |

I don't know whether it would do that? But I might make me feel a tad self-conscious about the degree to which I proudly refer to myself as a Black man.
I seem to recall Dr. Louis Gates discovering that he's half (or > half) NON-Black. He did appear somewhat shaken by that. |
