'Milkshake' singer Kelis arrested for 'disorderly conduct'

MIAMI: Hip-hop singer Kelis Rogers-Jones was arrested in the early hours yesterday for “disorderly conduct” but released later on a bail bond of $1500. The incident took place in the busy nightclub district of South Beach when the 27 yr-old singer was allegedly provoked by a remark from an unknown female fan of her husband Nas.
She is believed to have launched a verbal attack screaming racial profanities at two prostitutes who turned out to be undercover police officers. The commotion attracted passing people who stopped to stare, causing a crowd. The sidewalks got blocked with the growing crowd; some people spilled onto the street causing the traffic to halt.
An eyewitness said the angered Kelis had to be restrained by friends. She calmed down for a while but soon charged again at the two police officers who then handcuffed her even as she resisted.
Kelis was taken to the Miami-Dade County Jail where the officers registered two misdemeanor charges against her: disorderly conduct and trying to resist arrest.
The officers who arrested her said she tried to disrupt an undercover police operation.
The singer arrived into the R&B/hip-hop limelight with her hit single “Caught Out There”, but her best known track remains “Milkshake”. She is currently trying to leverage her celebrity with some unrelated efforts such as a fashion line and a cookbook that she plans to release this year.
She married rapper Nas in 2005.

what the hell is so surpising about this?
what does her skin tone have to do with ANYTHING?
maybe nas should have married alek (ugly) wek.
NEWSFLASH- black people come in different shades.
and these black people of different shades marry each other.
im sure you are surprised by this tonya.
maybe there should be a legal division that makes sure people only marry those who are there EXACT skin tone. |

TONYA: Why was she yelling at prostitutes?
They were probably hustling on her 'patch'. I used to like Kelis but she has come across as whored out with some of the stuff I have seen.
She isn't as edgy anymore.
I heard some of the comments were racially agressive but the reports must have been wrong. |

I don't know what's wrong with you guys' eyes. Kelis is not light skinned. I don't even know what that has to do with the story.
Anyways.....prostitutes probably get yelled at a lot. The cops blew their own cover when they made a big deal out of it. They should have just stayed in character and just cursed back and got on with whatever they were doing.
Also, I hope she fights this. If they were UNDERCOVER, how could she have known that yelling at a "prostitute" would be interfering with police work.
I'm not a fan of hers, but I hate to see people arrested for BS.
(With all of that bleach in her hair, she's going to be bald by 40....anyways.) |

Since when does anything have anything to do with "the story" around here?? Besides, I didn't say "light-skinned"---I said THAT LIGHT---please get it right. And since Naps prides himself as a lover of Authentic Black culture, his choice is a bit surprising. ...Tho it isn’t out of the ordinary, check history to see that. |

She's authentic. She just has pink hair.
Anyway, I think the reason that she might have started yelling at the hookers is because they were either looking at her man or her man was looking at the hookers.

Dark hair usually makes pale people seem even paler. And blonde hair makes dark skin look darker.
So it's a guess what this hair color does to enhance skin color. |

kelis's shade of skin somehow removes her from the "authentic black culture" pool?
whats so surprising about a lover of black culture (nas) marrying a BLACK WOMAN?
if kelis was not black, its maybe surprising to see nas marry her, but kelis IS black.
so what where's the surprise?
two black people get married, and some people are actually surprised about someone being "that light".
