OK Y'all, in the interest of full disclosure.
I actually banned Kola's account and every IP address her account ever used. This was done over a month ago.
The reason for Kola's ban is between Kola and I. The ban was supposed to be temporary.
But I also wanted to use the opportunity to sort through the IP addresses and see if anyone else aslo dropped off at the same time. But I've been too busy to even get started. I planed to do it this weekend, but something made me change my mind, so I'll do it later.
Y'all should probably stop accusing each other of being someone else -- particualrly if you can not prove it. When I come across people known to be forging other posters or peoples identities they are banned.
I have no rerason to believe Nafisa_goma is anything other than who she says she is.
I have no read anything that she has posted to lead me to believe she is anything onther than what she says. Now if Chris, or Diane of any of the other people who her pubslihing company has published told me something different it would hold more weight with me that checking an IP address or drawing conclusions based upon the text of a post.
Because of fakes, spammers and other crap. It is not easy to get an account to post on this board.

I know there are posters that have have not posted in a while, but their absence does not mean they were Kola. For example, I doubt Thumper is Kola.
If Kola last posted in January and someone else you believe is also Kola has posted since then (say Nafisa_goma), then it is not likely that person is Kola.
Just to clarify I did not ban Kola because I thought she was posting as other people, she was banned for a comepletely different reason.
I'm trying to unban Kola's account now. Like a lot of things this is harder to undo than it is to do.

Wow! I'm surprised! I'm curious as to why she was banned (although I'm sure you are reluctant to say why). Although I did not agree with many of her positions, the woman energized and drove this board like no one else. I noticed when she left for periods of time, there would often times be a lull in the postings and activity. But when she came back on line, it was on!! As I said, I'm not a Kola disciple but the woman generated a lot of heat, activity and controversy on this board. As everyone knows, there were always ongoing fire fights and carpet bombing when she was active. I never thought she would be banned. Hmmmmmmm.....she must have really pissed you off Troy.

She was banned 4 years ago by Thumper and she created the name "Snakegirl" to post on his board. Whenever you see "Snakegirl" on the other board, that's Kola.
I think everywhere here is aware of that.

Nobody really had a problem with kola when she was up front, NTFS. At one time, she was one of my favorite antagonists. It was only when she began to saturate this board with the trickiness of her unrelenting self-promotion that she became a turn-off to me. I am well aware that kola boof's duplicity doesn't make a difference to other posters, but I think we deserve better. |

Cynique, that is because Kola was not banned from Thumper's Corner, back then. Kola has not "been banned from this board many times". Kola was only banned this one time. I don't know where Nafisa_goma got that information.
Maybe it is like the telephone game, you tell someone something, they try to relate it and invariably something is miscommunicated.
Nafisa_goma, with all due respect, why do you post here? Are you simply a relay and promoter for Kola? Do you ever contribute to the board in such a way that is does not involve Kola? I only ask because that seems to be the only way you contribute (from my admittedly limited perspective). That is cool, but I think you would get much more out of the board (have more fun) if you contributed your own thoughts...

Thumper had nothing but contempt for Kola. He hated her. At Thumper's request, I asked Kola not to post on Thumperscorner any more; in fact I gave her her own board, because I also thought she had an interesting voice and she has been a supporter AALBC.com.
Kola agreed not to post on Thumpers board. However she came up with the snakegirl ID and posted there anyway. I did not know up front snakegirl was Kola. I don't recall if she came clean about the alias or if someone outted her first.
I should have banned the snakegirl ID then, but I let it slide, at least for a while. Subsequently, I asked Kola to simply post under a single ID. I believe I dropped the snakegirl account last year when I did the big clean up and enforced registration across all of the boards.
NTFS, the ban served a number of purposes;
1 - To make it clear that I would not tolerate Kola continuing telling lies which involved me.
I think this is clear to Kola now.
2 - To discover if any of the other aliases Kola was accused of using also dropped off. Kola was not forewarned of the banning.
As far as I know there are no other aliases, accused to belong to Kola, missing in action if there are please let me know.
3 - To see if anyone cared
Based upon what I've read on the board Kola is, in general, missed. Even those who have issued with Kola general agree that she is a smart and talented writer. I agree with this, sometimes Kola can go off the deep end with obscenity laced tirades (which is one of the reasons I added the filter on some curse words). I agree with Cynique we do deserve better and Kola is capable of this.
The final issue I have with Ms. Boof is that I end up expending a lot of energy on activities directly related to her. These activities do not contribute to promoting Black Literature, my mental health or the bottom line.
Kola is a diva and is not unique. Thumper caused me a lot of grief too. Can you image all of the authors I had to deal with whose books were slammed by Thumper -- and some of these folks paid for the privilege.
I do not think either Thumper or Kola was trying to cause me grief. Kola is not going to bite her tongue and Thump is not going to sugar coat a book review. It does not mean they are better or worse than other people they just don't conform in ways that many others would prefer.
So the grief, for the most part, is usually someone’s else's reaction brought to me and not the person themselves.

Though I will say this in Kola's defense: I've seen FEW - if ANY - who frequents this cite comment on and critique Black LITERATURE with the insight, style and depth that Kola has. And I believe she doesn't talk much about the works of other authors here because, frankly, not many (if ANY) of the rest of us couldn't keep up with her. |
