Forrest Whitaker is one of Movie Business's truly GREAT actors. My favorite part of observing the (otherwise achingly slow, boring) Oscars was seeing him claim that award.

I need to see that film, I really want to as everyone says he is brilliant.

I am a bit diasppointed that 'Apocalypto' didn't get nominated for best picture. But the Brit in me is happy that Helen Mirren won an Oscar.

^^^That is exactly what my boyfriend said ABM. I was still hoping though LOL. He is a great director, though a few sandwiches short of a full picnic.

It was a given that he would win and I'm happy for him. But after three other major awards (Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA) you'd think he would have prepared a speech. That hemming and hawing looking stupid talking about needing to absorb things (which was about the time I went into the kitchen) got old after three other times of him saying the exact same things in that exact same manner. He's boring as watching the grass grow.

I agree, Mzuri. Forest doesn't have a lot of poise or stage presence or even good diction and acting seems to be a kind of therapy for him. In fact his acceptance speech was a performance, like he was reprising his Idi Amin role. snicker.

I remember Forest from a movie called, "The Crying Game" where he played a cross dresser. I never would imagine he would win a Oscar. Sleepy eyed Forest. LOL
Cynique-
I was supposed to visit your fair city yesterday but all the flights from LAX to Chicago got cancelled. Chicago was going to be a layover on my way to Grand Rapids to a speak at college. Instead I am in the beautiful sunshiney City of Angels with some time on my hands. Go figure.
I was looking forward to perhaps running into Oprah or Michael. LMAO!

I like to claim Chicago because it always impresses people to say you're from there, but actually I don't and never have lived in Chicago. I reside in a suburb that is about 25 miles from Chicago which makes it about a 20 minute drive a way if the expressways aren't crowded. I don't even hang out in Chi-town anymore but I do keep up with a lot of what's going on there.

i am not happy that eddie murphy didn't win, i wish he hadn't put out that norbit movie, i think that ruined his chances. but kudos to jenny hudson and forrest. i only saw little miss sunshine (which i give a 4 out 10) and the departed (8 out of 10 stars), i didnt see dreamgirls because i am not a woman and musicals are for women and gays, except the southpark movie. i know that i'm gonna get a lot of flack for that comment, but i bet you can't find a straight male who's seen a musical without being drug their by his significant other.

ok...now you may begin beotching.

He was bused from South Central to Pasific Palisades High. They have been doing that for years in Los Angeles. Children from South Central have the option of going to school in the valley (Granada Hills, Verdugo Hills, Taft, or Cleveland. Or they can go to the Beach cities (Santa Monica, Venice, or Palisades).

i was happy for forest whitaker.

he is a good actor and has "payed his hollywood dues".

i have not seen "the last king of scotland" yet, but im sure he did a great job.

i know his wife is REAL nice to look at though!

the actor ryan gosling who was nominated for best actor for the movie "HALF NELSON", gave an AMAZING performance.

forest must have been great to have beat out ryan gosling for the "best actor" award.

brad pitt was also VERY good in "BABEL".

congrats- forest!
