It is primarily for young folk.
I know some older folk who are getting on there. In my opinion they are playing with fire. I am not interested in getting on a Child Molester watch list. |

i have a myspace also....but just because youre on myspace doesnt mean you're a childmolester or that you're there to do stupid stuff....there are plenty of intelligent people on myspace who go there to market their business or to just meet new people...i just go there to socialize and meet new people.
and they have alot of VERY positive groups on myspace...to me its way better than messageboards...i have a myspace group i started and it has about 119 people by now |

Most of the mysapce sites I've seen are much too busy (actually horrific), for my taste but I understand it is a really good way to network.
I was also under the impression that it was also used more by young folk.
Actually my kids school cautioned us allowing our daughters to Myspace and Facebooks as these are, breeding grounds for child molesters. So as carzy as what Chris said there is merit in the comment.
I'm going to create an account now (hey one more link to AALBC.com can't hurt).
I'll be back in a few.

Just about everyone has a myspace - it's actually not for kids anymore, it's been overtaken by adults. Most all the musicians use it to network and distribute their music. And some people are advertising and selling products (even though they're not supposed to).

I just created a myspace page http://www.myspace.com/aalbc
I immediatley got one friend named "Tom". I have no idea what Ton;s story iss but I will not be networking with him.
Myspace comes with a built in Blog http://blog.myspace.com/aalbc -- much easier to setup than Google's Blog (again it was automatically setup I did not have to do anything extra). But, alas, I already have an infrequently updated Blog http://troyjohnson.name
The Blog comes with and rss feed built in (very cool) and an email (like I need more spam).
I already have an email in my inbox -- and it is from my new "friend" Tom. If appears Tom has made himself avaialble to assist me with MySapce. I'm going to block Tom.
MySpace offers a lot of things to do. It sort of reminds me of AOL, except MySapce is free.
I filled out all the information about the schools I attended, movies I like, and that other crap. I did leave off my height (5' 7") as not to scare off any of the babes trolling for married men.
I'll check to see how many "Friends" I end up with, other than Tom, in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, I think TC os more fun.

Mzuri, MySpace is an fast, free and easy way to establish an internet presence and setup a Blog.
I prefer a tradional web site, but if you need something fast an you have almost not technical ability, money or time -- this is the way to go.
I'll reserve judgement on the newtorking side -- I invited some of y'all as friends.

Actually T - An even better way to set up a web presence fast and free (myspace is great but too time consuming once you start fiddling around with the layouts, adding videos, managing friends, exchanging comments) is WordPress. I have a couple of newsletter/blogs going and I think it works great. The only expense involved was registering my domains which are then redirected to the WP site. You can develop WP into a full-fledged website, selling products, members only forums and everything else. I'm just using it for the newsletters right now. BTW, one of those regards professional boxing, and I'll send you the link whenever I hook it up with some relevant content

i didnt realize you could do all fo that with it....you can also start groups and visit groups and get to know the people....i know alot of people who market that way. a group is like a messageboard. |

Yukio: I have been here in the shadows, working on three novels that I hope finally come out this spring. Ran into a few snags that slowed down the printing (money..hahaha) But, everything is now back on track...I hope. I'll let you know as soon as I get them in my little hands and send you and yes...let's not forget Carey copies.
Troy: I know. I'm sorry. It's Thumpers fault. He started the going to school thing which made me work harder on the novels cause he never answers his calls (once a month) forgets to email me back or tell me what to review next. I know, I know...that's no excuse. But hey! I have to blame somebody. But you best believe he did call about BEA in NYC and you know we are already booked, ready to go and there. Looking forward to seeing you and Earl and Ron so we can catch up and I will have a review ready by next week. Now that the actual writing of the novels are done I can get back to my duties. (LOL) The University of Geiorgia Press just sent me, "The Hanging of Angelique". It's the story about Marie-Joseph Angelique, a 29 year old slave, born in Portugal, who was hanged and burned for allegedly starting the fire that consumed forty-six buildings in Montreal on April 10, 1734. |

you can go to groups and type in houton texas in the group search bar...and they have all kinds of groups where you can meet people from houston.
they also have groups where you can meet people from university of houston....if the groups arent very active, then jsut go to the members section in that particular group and click on the profiles of the members you want to contact and send them a message.
btw, since you have a profile, can you send me a friend request? i'll set it to where people can send me friends requests

if you want i can introduce you to some nice and very enlightening myspace groups that have alot of intelligent poster son them....the people in those groups are not sleezy at all and there are plenty of them. they talk about similar stuff to what we talk about here only its a bit more interactive. i guess because everyone has pictures and their age posted and you can read their profiles and also get to know them through the other people on their profiles |
