What is the problem with black folks always trying to figure out a way to make white folks love us?
If only we would all act good, you whine.
Why do white people move away when educated middle class law abiding blacks move into their neighborhoods--scratch that--when they start SEEING too many go through?
They don't want you around if you got diamond toenails and ruby eyeballs. They know what they did to you. They know you are thirsting to take revenge on them. |

What would you do if you couldn't put your spin on things, chrishayden? Do you suggest that black people stop demanding respect? It's not about seeking the love of white people. Stop judging everybody by yourself. |

(See that's the old way. That's your generation's way. You haven't been even demanding respect--you have been wishing for and begging for and hoping somebody gives you respect.
You don't even demand respect. You COMMAND respect. You say you are going to give me respect if I am the most lowdown piece of slime in the world.
That, after all, is how white folks got you to respect them.
By the way, you should stay out of these discussions and relax. I had a brainwave last night which told me that no matter how much El Choko (Peyton Manning) tries to give it up Da GROSS Man is going to blow it.
When he does--it is going to be painful for you.
You'll need all your strength.

And I guess in "commanding" respect, chrishayden, you think that the white people, who you claim are so entrenched in their obliviousness, will respond. If you had any balls you would be recommending revolution wherein respect would be seized. And keep your prayers to yourself, lest you and your demonic vibe jinx the Bears. |

(They will respond to those who command it. Read how Martin Luther King's daddy got respect during the depths of segregation. How Frederick Douglass got it from the slavemasters when he was a slave.
Whites would say those blacks who refused to knuckle under were "crazy" and left them alone.
Of course you cannot do this if you are fearful. If they sense fear they will tear you to pieces. If you are fearful--better to take low.
It is not for everybody. The masses of people are always going to feel themselves unworthy of respect and will not ask for it no matter who holds the whiphand.
A revolution will not bring respect to any save the leaders of that revolution. Sooner or later they will start kicking the cringing bowing shmoos in the butt just like the former masters did.
However, the individual can reach for this if he or she will.
