Well, the verdict's in and the appeal denied. They're going to execute poor ol Sadaam. I'd gotten to the place where I was starting to like the guy and I can't believe they're really gonna kill him and deny him his chance to get the last laugh on the weapons of mass destruction fiasco. How ironic that he may achieve martydom among the Sunnis who seem poised to really turn the situation in Iraq into the chaotic civil war that will be Sadaam's revenge and Bush's downfall. What a crazy mess. |

"Crazy mess" is right.
Is there a precedent for treating the leader of a sovereign nation this way? They say that everything was done 'legally' and I'm aware that we’re not the ones killing him but our fingerprints are all over it. I don't know, what we've done doesn't seem ETHICAL I guess is what I'm trying to say.

There are groups coming forward to say that it isn't ethical and that Sadaam should be given life in prison instead. |

If this does go down, I pity anyone who needs to fly around that time. They'll probably be probing folks' backsides and making them take a citizenship test before anyone can get on a plane. |

If you guys think that they really caught Saddam than I have some beachfront property that I want to sell you in Des Moine, Iowa. Didn't Saddam have about 20 look-a-likes that were "running around" Iraq? |

Uhhhhhh.....Yes he did. But this particular clone was DNA tested as soon as they caught him. This is already documented -three years ago!!! I suggest you do your research before posting such suggestions. Still wanna sell some beachfront property...?????

All that has happened is that Saddam is now a historical figure. Forever. I kind of felt sorry for him towards the end, and I really wish that they (the media) wouldn't display his remains on the internet. Even though he was a tyrant, I believe that we should be respectful of the deceased.

Okay. I'm all for the death penalty. And the voyeuristic me couldn't help but watch the video of the hanging (I have never witnessed a hanging before except in the cowboy movies). I saw the cell phone video.
I must say that I am disgusted (disgusted being an understatement) with the way that the hangmen and the audience treated SH. I hate him and he deserved to be executed. But he stepped to the plate in a dignified manner, he wasn't crying, shitting in his pants, he wasn't meek or timid, he walked into the gallows like a grown ass man. A brave man.
And for the audience to shout whatevers at him was just plain wrong - they should have had some sense of decorum and kept their mouths shut or else they shouldn't have been there at all. The man was already going to hang, what more do you want.
I am appalled at the way that this was handled and if I don't do anything else I'm going to write to my Congressman, Silvestre Reyes (he's the dummy heading some Iraq intelligence committee that doesn't know the difference between the Sunni and the Shiite) and let him know that this has brought dishonor to the U.S.
There should have been NO unauthorized recording devices in the gallows. What a disgrace! And now this video is ALL OVER THE INTERNET. This is just one more reason that the other countries hate the U.S. For letting the shit go down that way.
