I'm going to get away from this board. It isn't even as interesting as it used to be when Kola was here. I'm considering beading. I used to volunteer a lot with different organizations (Girl Scouts, Airport, Hosea Williams Foundation, Refugee Women's Association, as well as with 2 shelters, and Islamic school, and a food pantry) and I did a few temp jobs and would go to some fashion shows, but now that I have a son, long hours out is out of the question. I write sometimes, but that doesn't take long. Anyways, what do you women do in your spare time when your husband/significant other is at work? I'm not even going to pretend that my life is fun and spectacular. I have no relatives here, and none of my friends have children, so they go out every night. |

I do some beading, artwork, a lot of writing, update blogs, clean, talk on the phone, write letters, study Spanish, Watch thrillers and obsession movies (lol). Can you take your son on a walk with you ? Visit a park ? A museum ? Get outside girl, or you'll go crazy. Find some women's groups who have children too. |

The only reason I don't go out much is because I hate to have the baby in the cold. We're all over the place in spring, summer, and fall. Museums and other things, we enjoy in the summer. We have to take a train to downtown/midtown because of the parking situation, so again, the cold is an issue right now. I'd considered volunteering for the Ludacris Foundation (they'll let you bring well-behaved children along), but they would call at 6:00 pm and want you to be somewhere the next morning at 9. That's not enough notice for me. Well, beading it is. I can at least try to make some jewelry/hair ornaments for myself and family if nothing else. |
