I've noticed two kinds of assholes on this board and the CRE board: The first are those who are so unhappy with their own lives, and so much in denial with their own identities,that they are using you as a source for releasing their personal dissapointment. The others are stuck up, egotistical know-it-alls that hate having people prove them wrong and handle defeat like a bunch of little kids. They were probably spoiled as children, experienced virtually no personal trauma in their childhoods, and they think that reading about something is the same thing as actually experiencing it. they have no personal boudaries and are unwilling to admit that they have a weakness of any kind. Kola, Don't give in to these jackasses. They'll keep on destroying themselves and will not last as long as you. Remember that there are so many people out there who care about you, who understand what you've been through, and some who don't but are fair enough to take the time and listen to your side of the story and respect your worldview. Everyone else won't give you the chance because they've only experienced dysfunction through TV and books and to have such a story and persona come so close to their "happy and comfy" world is scary to them. And anyone who is fearful will fight off what scares them. Some of these people are weak-minded and will keep fighting the unconventional until they die. So I would suggest not fighting with them anymore. Keep reaching those who don't fear change and confrontation. We will continue the battle.  | ||

Too bad everybody can't be perfect like Kola and her kult of klones. Let them tell it, something is wrong with everybody but them. Talk about being deluded. I praise kola to high heaven for her brainwashing skills. No matter how many times she is busted and no matter how much she lies and rants and attacks, her robot brigade with their eyes glazed over, march in lock step with her. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. | ||

Roxie, thanks so much for the sentiments. It means so much to me. I'm leaving the board soon. But I love everyone here who has "attempted" to understand and empathize with me. And especially people like you, who've become virtual sisters. Please know that you can always email me---anyone here can: kolaboof_email@yahoo.com The reason I'm leaving the board is that basically.....I've signed with a conglomerate and I now have to "play" the role of American A-list author. My novel for 2007 already has people in New York saying that I'm going to be nominated for the National Book Award....it's that powerful, and it's something that's never been done before (you know, "The Sexy Part of the Bible"). I have a big tour this summer, and I expect that "Diary" will make me a "mini-star".....but I will basically become a recluse who's never seen and rarely grants interviews. But you can always reach me--we are personal friends, and that goes for everyone here who's known me. Cynique--after all these years; this wouldn't be home to me without you. And even though you really don't give a shit--I really love you so much. You're like family to me. Regardless of the vile disagreeing. | ||

I was amused that Roxie would say the "weak-minded" objects of her scorn were afraid of change and confrontation. That's all that we ever engaged in was confrontation about changing the past or changing the future. Just an example of her warped perspective and blind loyalty to you. LOL. Kola, the news of your leaving has prompted me to ask you a question that I have always been meaning to ask you about 'Long Train to the Redeeming Sin' I think it was in the 'Lioness' that you had inferred that it was Etah's Black complexion that had been somehow threatening to the equally black village men, and caused the men to want or need to subjegate (?spling) women like her and women in general. When I read this I did not understand how or why black skinned women would be a threat to equally black men. Could you please explain this to me. I have enjoyed your message board. Thankyou for sharing your intellect with the masses. I don't know any other popular author who would do that. | ||

Hi Zuri, What I pointed out was the ancient Cushite story of black men hating the "sin" of the first woman....Asli Nalla...who was charcoal. These are ancient "wives tales" passed down. I believe that it was not the men--but an Egyptian woman who referred negatively to Etah's coloring. If you notice---Etah's mother had been a Queen and was also charcoal colored, only "Atu" had been very beautiful. And so was Nyatoot. Etah is TALLER than the men, charcoal and not pretty. So she was not valued as the charcoal Atu and Nyatoot were. There are MANY WAYS to take it...but the story is very accurate to the ways Sudani women would tell a story back home. I was also hinting at PRE-colonial colorism, which was based more on "religious" ignorance. NOTE: There's also a scene later where Hotep walks in and finds Kueth and Etah sexually entwined....and becomes "JEALOUS" at seeing the coloring of the two pure charcoals. "the genesis of vision itself" I wrote. Which is a way of saying it was valued. **That story is so dear to me. So glad you read it. I love that book so much. | ||

And I'd finally be able to put a dent in my project - which is good considering I'm way behind.. only 8 months left (Bummer!). LOL. Not only that Cynique...but I actually RESPECT you so much. People have forgotten that "disagreeing" and "debating" doesn't mean that people can't respect each other. You're a brilliant woman your damned self. And you remind me of people in both my families..Egyptian and American both. I also can detect a "good heart" no matter how much acid it's submerged under. If Kola is actually leaving the board, that will be unfortunate. Even though I never got the opportunity to debate her on a few things that I totally disagreed with, it was the spirit of debate and no holds bar counter statements that I enjoyed. There were more than a few knife fights between Kola and those who passionately disagreed with her. Some of it was very heated and very nasty. But such is life. I hope she is successful in her next endeavor and takes the time to drop a few lines and zingers on the board every so often in the future. The most controversial and outrageous members of a board put life and zest into it. | ||
