Honestly, I respect oprah. Never marrying steadman was probably the best thing she ever did. In the end all her wealth and everything she worked for on her own BELONGS TO HER AND ONLY HER. There's no legal way steadman could ever get any of it. :D
And if steadman's parents want to keep looking at her color, and if grown-man steadman wants to keep bending down for them, that's his and their humongous loss. :P

--------------
Hey, I got that issue of Essence! I'm so glad Lauryn's back. Hope she makes another album.
--------------
And Latifah: she's come a long way from the Afrocentricly-clothed rapper of my childhood. One could consider her the Madonna of Rap. Except that latifah's had alot more success in film.^-^

I honestly think that Oprah looked her best (facewise) years ago when she was just a news reporter and rockin' an Afro. Some African & African-American women can rock BOTH an African & Euro-black hairstyle; while some ONLY look good in Euro-black hairdstyles. Then there's those who look their BEST in African styles -- Oprah's one of them. If you notice, when she wears her hair braided during the summer, she looks better than she does with her current (European, i.e. Euro-black) hairdo, not to mention more natural.

Roxie,

"if steadman's parents want to keep looking at her color, and if grown-man steadman wants to keep bending down for them. . . "

What's that all about? I haven't heard about it.

Tonya,
I didn't put in the best of words did I? ^^'
Well, some adults go against their parents' approval if the love (or greed) is strong enough), right? But steadman seems so parent-whipped that he would forgo the rare blessing of marrying america's richest black woman in order to obey his own parents' narrow-mindedness. What a loser! @_@!

Steadman reminds me of one of my own male cousins: even at age 26, his ears fall deaf to all other voices but his own mother's. Some men are true "momma's boys".
