How quiet is that town? You'd think you would see more people out and about. |

Here's links to more photos: http://www.webshots.com/search?query=luanda&start=0 http://www.palancanegra.com/ http://www.worldisround.com/articles/87390/ http://community.iexplore.com/advancedSearch/?searchType=photos&location=Angola& phrase=&alias=&submit1=Search+Photos It seem right now the only tourists there are mostly european and white american backpackers. When I look at a travel destination I don't look for what's the most "fabulous" in american standards. I'll sleep in a hut with no A/C for all I care, but I fall in love with whatever has the most tropical climate, has the least coflict (political or otherwise), where I can come in contact with the locals, and is more in touch with its indigenous culture, epescially if it's in a non-european nation. Were so used to seeing cities outside of South Africa and Egypt that look more like large villages from the 19th century. Luanda proves to "skeptics" (racists) that africans are capable of entering the developed world while applying their own culture to the ever changing times, like japan does. I hope Luanda's one of the choice spots, if not for all people at least for black people! |
