More than 90% of Africans are proud of their continent, a new survey conducted for the BBC shows.
While many people in the rest of the world see Africa as plagued by war and poverty, many Africans are far more positive about their lives.
The majority say their family will be better off, or the same, this year compared to last.
This survey of African attitudes is a rare event. More than 7,500 people were interviewed in 10 countries.

Most of those who took part in the Pulse of Africa survey said that other people saw Africans as peaceful, friendly and rich in natural resources.
Many Africans remain positive despite their tough lives
Some 40% of Nigerians and Ghanaians felt better off compared to a year ago, while Zambians say they have seen the least progress.
Africa's most pressing problem is poverty, most said, followed by HIV/Aids, unemployment, illiteracy and corruption.
And most were not happy with their governments.
Only in Kenya (69%), Rwanda (66%) and Ghana (56%) did a majority say their governments were doing well.
Surprisingly, although Africa accounts for the vast majority of deaths from Aids around the world, in most countries in the survey, 80% of those questioned believed their government was doing a good job in tackling the disease.
Strong traditions
Africans say they are deeply religious and family-orientated, still believing in traditional gender roles.

The percentage of those agreeing that: "The man should be the head of the family" ranged from 73% to 96%, with a slightly higher figure in West Africa.
While western music and clothes are becoming more common across the continent, many of those surveyed said they had local tastes.
Around half of the Nigerians and Malawians said they preferred to only wear traditional clothes.
A clear majority preferred music from their own region in seven out of the 10 countries.
No amount of brightly-lit streets, dripping chocolate and satellite TVs can take the place of such soulful simplicities

While most of those surveyed were generally positive about Africa, a clear majority said that given a choice, they would emigrate, mostly outside the continent.
South Africa was the only country named as a popular destination and no-one at all wanted to live in Nigeria - Africa's most populous country.
Countries outside of Africa that were most popular were the United States, United Kingdom and France.

If poverty exists in any of its country, it is because of those fuckers who started the damn colonization and created AIDS.
Fuck today's BBC's, CNN'S (BREAKING NEWS).
THE NEWS SHOULD BE BROKEN EVERYDAY FOR AFRICA IF THEY GAME A DAMN..
ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS MAKE BLACK PEOPLE LOOK BAD INSTEAD OF RECOGNIZING THE CAUSE OF THEIR POVERTY AND HOW WE LIVE/LIVED ! |

I have been saying it...and saying it...but no one believes me.
CONTINENT-wise...the people in Africa are FAR BETTER OFF than the Black people outside Africa.
The media ONLY shows the very worst of the nightmares from around the continent.
There are 850 million people living in 50 countries in Africa. There are places in Africa where people don't have to pay any money for food, for clothing, for anything.
They just live off the rain forests and massive lakes and rivers--the plains.
Westerners just cannot GET IT.
The horror stories are the EXCEPTION...not the rule.
And for those Africans who live barefoot in poverty, like I semi grew up.....I never knew I was poor!!! or that my neighborhood was lacking.
We were so damned happy before the Arabs started up in SUDAN. Shit.
I miss hunting crocodiles in the morning so much!!! (where else can a 5 year old girl shoot a pistol? and learn how to cook by preparing the steaks---it was wonderful!).
And ALL the children have fathers, all the women have husbands. Black men and black women love being black. They have core identities. The vast majority of people are well fed, comfortable, festive.
Most definitely...it's REALLY BAD in the places where it's bad (Sudan, South Africa with Aids and rape)...those places NEED help from the world community.
But the vast majority of Africa........
Africa is a paradise where BLACK people are the only race...which makes it raceless. It's heaven 90% of the time.

I will get in trouble for saying this but I think that the reason why a lot of black people don't want to go to Africa is not because of the poverty (we have that here) or the danger (we have that here) or the internet (they have that there) but because there are no white butts to kiss over there.

I used to think that the BBC was a good alternative news source.
Silly me. It is controlled by the British government. The English practically invented racism, colonialism, etc.
They are on the program.
I read a lot of Sci Fi. Write some fiction with Sci Fi elements (I wouldn't call it Sci Fi--but AfroFuturism)
Years ago these guys were discussing the creation of race specific biological weapons. Some of them are real scientists or work for the government.
Not too long ago they were doing this series of stories about a Draka empire--that is all the English speaking white folks teamed up and took over outer space and whatnot. When I look at the G-8--what do I see? |
