This is EXACTLY the look WE should be promoting!

http://www.voiceofafricaradio.com/images/faces-2005-wk4-4.jpg

This young lady has more than enough in common with most of the (beautiful) young AA women I see on a daily basis, whether I'm in Philly, New Jersey, or New York -- She look exactly like them.... As I said on a previous thread, that DOESN'T mean she looks average; it goes to show that our young women nowadays are hot!

THANK GOD THEY ARE THE MAJORITY!

Funny you mentioned that Moonsigns :-)....

That was the first thing I thought could be altered about her. Of course I'm not diggin the weave.. but I envisioned her in a much different hair do and thought how perfect she'd look.. like an angel.. a god.... Also, the second thing I thought could (but not necessarily) be changed was the nose. From this angle it looks kinda thin. But, what makes her the perfect model is, if you alter her nose and make it thicker, she still would look pretty much the same. I'm telling you.. most of the young black women I see look exactly like her, but their features (nose & lips) just vary. Some have thicker ones, some have thinner ones, but they all look exactly like her.

I think she's the perfect model.

Oh, get real, Tonya. In other words if this woman didn't have a long, black straight-haired weave and if she didn't have a keen nose, she'd be perfect for your purposes. You are so full of ambiguity. As long as she has to divested of certain major traits in order to conform to your ideal - she isn't an example of your ideal!

Maybe you and Kola are right; maybe I NEVER make myself clear....

The problem is it usually seems very clear to me; therefore, I don't know when I'm not being clear.... Oh, well.. something else I need to work on, I guess.

Anyway... my point was, no matter how you change her, features hair, ect., she would still be the ideal beauty standard because her overall look is so common to AA women. That's why I think she's the perfect model -- she's the perfect foundation for the ideal AA beauty standard.

That hair is disgusting. Say what you will about Diana Ross, I do love her hair, even if it's fake (which I hear, but don't know for sure). I also really like Chaka Khan's hair. I'm in the process of now trying to get a bigger, thicker, fluffier, hairstyle for myself.

It actually looks like she's attempting to make herself look more AMERICAN! Not show off traditional African beauty! Traditionally West African women wear head wraps and braids NOT WEAVES that reach down to their butts!!!!

Since joining Kola's board I've taken up a much more interest in African culture! So when I get a chance I chat a little with some Sengalese immigrants that work at a convienent store near my apartment. To make a long story short they were very please that I appeared interested in their country and yesterday one of the guys even leant me a cd of African music videos.

To my surprise I saw one female singer with a long red weave (like Eve) going down to her breast and some too light makeup.........

Actually ALL the female singers had on makeup that was 2 or 3 shades TOO LIGHT for their skin. I could look at their arms and facial features and tell their makeup color simply did not fit!

I could be biast, but I absolutely HATE seeing AA women going in Asian beauty shops buying fake hair and making Koreans and other Asians rich! That's why first and foremost I disaprove of this "Image" Tonya loves so well.

I think Usher's ex Girlfriend Eisha Brightwell looks very STEROTYPICAL Black American- with no weave- and quite STUNNING!

I'd perfer her image!

MOST AA women are brown skinned with relaxed shoulder legnth hair! They also have this girls NATURAL features!

Afro,

***MOST AA women are brown skinned with relaxed shoulder legnth hair! They also have this girls NATURAL features!***

If you don't mind, please tell me where you're from? Also, have you spent any time in working/poor/lower middle class AA communities.. any major black cities at all? Lastly, do you spend a lot of your time looking at magazines, watching music videos, at da club, and at shopping malls? I don't mean to get too personal, and, of course, you don't have to answer my questions.. but I'm curious to know how you came up with that statement.

Thanks..

Tonya

Its no big deal Tonya.

I live in North Carolina. Winston Salem to be exact! So it is what MOST would consider an urbanized "Black" city!

lol.

I am VERY AWARE how AA's look. I'm 100% one. I'm from a 100% AA family!

I think what it is our ideas are different. Our personal ideas always CLOUD our judgement when it comes to sensitive matters!
