I've always been interested in books about Countries ever since I was a little girl and I use the whatever free time I have at my job (in a library) to do what I've always enjoyed. Lately I've been looking at books on madagascar. I've read books on the subject before but one element has never had me thinking so much until recently: The books maintain that the first inhabitants were the javanese who, according to the books, arrived to the Island by crossing the Indian ocean on rafts. And according to thse books, the inhabitants of what is now Mozambique arrived as slaves with the european travelers in the 18th and 19th centuries. Now this......Makes NO GODDAMNED SENSE! Not only does this information reek of "blacks have always been slaves" propaganda but it forgoes all common sense to perpetuate the myth that Africans could have never journeyed beyond their homeland without the assistance and influence of foreigners. As much as they praise Great Zibabwe, one would think these "experts" would give them SOME credit for madagascar. o_o! Besides how could have the Javanese shown up first when the Island is closer to the african coastline by 85%. For continental Africans it would have been like crossing the street compared to the "Kon-tiki"-level trip the Javanese would have had to endure. I know I'm stating the obvious here but THIS IS REDICULOUS: The "experts" can accept vikings crossing the northern atlantic into the midwest. They can accept the chinese crossing the pacific into california. They also accept the controvesial bering strait theory and the really obscure theory of Inuits who crossed over to Ireland. But the mere speculation of Africans crossing over to a nearby island and (God forbid) to the Americas, and ON THEIR OWN TOO!? Well that's just too FARFETCHED!Only a NUT would claim that![*sarcastically*] [*sigh*] It's starting to get to the point where I don't even take history/archaeology seriously anymore. It's all too tainted in "spin". |
