I'd like to see more of this.

Can someone like MOONSIGNS look at this Sociological Test Pattern and get an idea about what what is systematically done to Blacks via MEDIA IMAGES and especially Black women?

KOLA: "Can someone like MOONSIGNS look at this Sociolgical Test Pattern and get an idea about what what is systematically done to Blacks via MEDIA IMAGES and especially Black women?" MOONSIGNS: Sure I can. And on the flip side of it, I still believe that women (in America) have a choice to embrace or refuse a majority of images--especially intelligent women who "say" they disagree with such things. With a crystal clear understanding that the individuals who control the media aren't going to do much of anything to change this issue, I monitor what I can for my children--the people I'm responsible for. I'm not even going to act like I'm out to save the world nor do I apologize for feeling as such. I expect other mothers/people to take care of their responsiblities--just as I take care of mine. I don't think that's unreasonable. If each person who feels strongly about this issue does their small part, maybe the bigger picture might change. Best wishes on your quest, Kola. |

btw--the black man at the top of that photo collage is so handsome I'm glad you pointed this out, Moonsigns. I wanted to comment on this thread but kept getting so distracted by that brother that I couldn't form a serious response! LOL! |

Yvettep, I think not too long ago you had mentioned something regarding Disney and the "princess" thing (there's not one that's black/brown)--am I remembering this correctly? |

Yes, Moonsigns. I was specifically talking about their huge "Princess franchise" that includes their classic princesses (S. White, S. Beauty, Cinda) along with Jasmine from Alladin, Little Mermaid, and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. (I think I got all of them...) |
