‘We need to learn about our culture‘

Some blacks of African descent in the Caribbean have indicated their intention to return "to their
ancestral land," Africa.
The blacks, under the auspices of the "Ethiopian Peace Foundation," gave this indication, Friday in Abuja when they paid a courtesy visit on the Minister of Culture, Amb. Frank Ogbuewu.
Leader of the four man delegation Carol Rocke, said that blacks living in the Caribbean were mostly taken from the West Coast of Africa during the slave trade era.
Rocke who expressed the desire of these Africans to return to their ancestral home appealed to the
Nigerian government to assist them with land and
national passports, to facilitate their movement.
"We do not know anything about our culture, and
people. We need to learn about kingship,tradition,
and history.
"We want to return home to meet our African brothers, share our western knowledge and skills, and be treated as one," Rocke said.
According to her, the delegation is on a tour of three African nations, Nigeria, Ghana and Ethiopia, to appeal for support for the return of willing blacks in the Caribbean to their ancestral home.
She urged the government to establish air link
services between Nigeria and Trinidad and Tabago,
which she described as the "gate way to the
Caribbean".
Rocke who noted that Caribbean go to America and
Europe on vacation, said that the establishment of air link between Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago would further boost trade and tourism. She stressed the need to project Africa's image positively to the world, saying that the "global impression of Africa is that
of war, famine, disease and poverty.
In his remarks, Ogbuewu expressed Nigeria's support for Africans in Diaspora, saying that the AU under President Olusegun Obasanjo's leadership is advocating for the Caribbean to be the sixth region of Africa.
"You are welcome back home any day as you are part of us. You will be given free land and treated like Nigerians," he said. The minister said that arrangements were underway to establish air links between the two countries while cultural and bilateral agreements already exist between both.

Don't forget that recently Nigeria has provided free land (thousands of hectares) to white farmers from Zimbabwe and South Africa. The first group of farmers have already plowed their fields and are building homes for themselves. Looks like Nigerians have failed in agriculture and need help. |

I think it is very nice of Nigeria to give land to blacks from the Caribbean. It seems that we always focus on Black Americans or blacks in the Caribbean. We cannot forget about our brothers and sisters in Central and South America. I feel ALL Sub-Saharan African nations should reach out to blacks in the disapora, especially in the western hemisphere. I am sure a lot of Black Americans came from Nigeria, but i don't ever think Nigeria would even think about giving us land or even citizenship. For some reason Nigerians seem to hate Black Americans and for what reason i don't have a clue. |

If Nigerians are giving land to whites, then whatever ploy they're engaging in is going to fail....they're going to lose the shirts off their freaking backs because whites don't go ANYWHERE to TAKE orders...trouble ahead. |
